I just wanted to check out before I started; what would be a reasonable price for making a PC for these needs:

1. Large storage for music and films (~2TB at least)
2. Decent running speed (as in smooth w/ no freezing) whilst running Firefox with many addons, iTunes with a large library and a download manager at the same time.
3. I don't give a damn about graphic quality but speed is relatively important.

£370 could build you a pretty good computer.



Brand new ivy bridge processor, it includes HD4000 graphics which is not too bad.

SSD is overkill but you'll see an improvement, obviously you'd boot off there and then turn on trim and turn off defragmentation etc.
No os included.
Some graphics capability is always useful.
You could go cheaper but this does everything anyone ever wants done
as always add more HDD space as when you need. Want more ram get another 2X4GB sticks as it's cheap atm.

I'd add an SSD, preferably 256GB (£155) but you could get a 128 instead for half that(ish). Go for the Crucial M4 if you do get an SSD.

It'll make the running of programs like iTunes and Firefox with lots of addons tonnes faster.

4GB RAM is more than enough. 8GB is a bit overkill so knock off £20 if you only want 4.
As I said CPU can be droppped, no GPU needed, PSU could be dropped a bit too depending on other components.
