Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTStupid pdfs. Couldn't get it small enough!(Original post by raheem94)
Gibbo its been 1 hour, double the expected time, still no solutions
Please post the solutions. -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTtbf hauling myself out of bed at 5 should give me some margin for error!(Original post by raheem94)

Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTIts ok, don't worry.(Original post by Gibbo81)
tbf hauling myself out of bed at 5 should give me some margin for error!
Thanks for the solutions! -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTYou have done a good job.(Original post by Gibbo81)
tbf hauling myself out of bed at 5 should give me some margin for error!
I agree with the answers posted too. -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTWhat are your grade boundary boundary predictions?(Original post by Gibbo81)
Solutions now up
I misread 7c and found the value of 'k' using the information given. Then while i revising i realized that the question asked for dy/dx. So i differentiated the equation in 7b and inputted the values and the time was up so i couldn't calculate. How many marks will i lose 1 or 2?
Where will 100UMS be, any chance 73 will get full marks? -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTI have a feeling 74/75 will be 100. There was not enough to it IMO to really differentiate the top candidates. 67 ish for 80 UMS and 71 ish for 90.(Original post by raheem94)

I may be wrong, I just can't see where too many good students will have dropped too many marks. -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTSorry I didn't get theta..hence I only ended with dy/d(theta)=0(Original post by raheem94)
Do you remember the answer to polar coordinates question?
What was the length of OP? -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTYes. I don't think any past papers will influence the grade boundaries ever.(Original post by Ihatemathsexams)
Very true. However, the last three exams had their a boundary around the 60-61 mark. I know it's only three years but do you think a 6 mark jump in the boundary is possible?
Its purely down to what the cohort does on the paper.
The cohort, in the main, will score higher on this paper than previous ones. That is, IMO, a given.
I understand there will be exam pressure but if you line 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 up and ask pupils doing FP2 next year which they scored highest on it would be 2012 for the vast majority and by some distance.
58,60,62 and now I think 67 UMS have been 80 over the papers. -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTI may get 74. I am quite sure i have done the other stuff correct except misreading 7c. Though in last few moments i tried to correct 7c so i probably did enough to earn 1 mark. So may be 74, but i usually make too many silly mistakes hopefully i haven't made many in it.(Original post by rubbermat)

What are you expecting, 75/75? -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTI didn't sit it but two pupils I tutor did and the feedback was that the paper was very straightforward in comparison to what they expected. I quickly went through and the answers matched with the solutions here.(Original post by raheem94)

74 was 100UMS last June so 73 would be optimistic.
74/75 IMO -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTSo i see you are teacher! Can you tell me how many marks will i lose in 7c. I didn't read the question properly i thought we need to find the value of k(arbitrary constant) and write the particular solution. And then when the time had almost ended, while revising i realized that we need to find dy/dx, it was simple we needed to plug it into the first equation given in the question but at that time i was in a bit of panic so i didn't realized. I had written down the particular solution, i differentiated it, inserted the values x=1, but didn't had enough to calculate the values. So will i lose just 1 mark?(Original post by rubbermat)

74/75 IMO
Hopefully 74 will give full marks. -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTI also subbed the values in the dy/dx equation, the only thing left was to calculate them for which i had no time.(Original post by rubbermat)
I would expect you will get 1 mark for showing dy/dx. -
Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POSTI did the same thing. I thought it might require an integrating factor, so i found it and later realized it can't be done this way. So i then separated the variables and got the right answer, but this made me lose my concentration and costed marks in 7c(Original post by Ihatemathsexams)
So can I just ask, how did everyone find 7b? I kept on trying to find an integrating factor but I know see you had to seperate variables. That is where I lost most of my marks.

Re: FP2 EDEXCEL Friday 22nd June PM - SOLUTIONS IN FIRST POST
I found it a really hard paper and I was pressed for time. Caused me to start panicing and making lots of mistakes. I needed at least an 80% to meet my imperial offer (other two would have got me the average for A*) doesn't look like that anymore...
