Hey :-) I was doing the exam today and actually found it harder than I thought'd be. found the credit listening pretty impossible so hoping for a 3! But I stupidly wrote 'Bergen' for the first one in the general listening as I thought it was a place in Germany! Turns out it's mountains... Oh. Haha oh well. Also hoping for a 1 in the reading and then hopefully an overall 1! This was the exam I was most confident about so feeling a bit put down after it incase I completely fail and get a general. Hm... How does everyone think they've done?

German is my weakest subject and I think how I did in that exam showed it!
I almost completely ran out of time for Credit Reading and the last question became a bit of a guessing game with the odd look at the dictionary.
I found the Credit listening the most difficult part of an exam i've sat so far. I would really have to hope they lower the passmark otherwise i'll be relying on getting a 3 in the general and for folio to be a strong Credit.

Man alive that was hard. Agree with you- I've ever had a paper that hard before for the reading. I'm hoping for a one as well but I reckon I'll have to depend on them lowering the pass marks for that to happen.

I got confused on that one as well! It was because he said Die Bergen and kind of ran it all together so it was like deeberge.

I was the same, I thought I was ok until I realized I still had the whole of the back page to do. I thought the questions were quite stupid as well- it was more like a dictionary exercise than a test of any actual knowledge.

Hoping it's gone better than everyone feels. :hugs:

Yeah, and the general reading was definitely harder than any of the past papers I've done! Also didn't think there was enough time for any of the readings. Does anyone remember what they wrote for the last question in the credit reading when it asked about why he was surprised about his first year of joinery training? And also what he learnt from it? I found those two hard Oh well, guess it's time to focus on some biology revision for tomorrow!

I didn't realise there was a back page of the credit reading until about 2.29 - and it's made even worse when people get up and leave - so I was left thinking either I have done very badly here and it was easy or these guys are as clueless as I am!

I hope it was the latter on this occasion!

I couldn't agree more about the "dictionary exercise" - ok, German is my weakest subject as I admitted - but i'd never had a reading I struggled on more than that.

Also agree with the "dictionary exercise" thing. Didn't flow together at all.

That's true. We were all hoping that after the harder than usual general paper that the credit would be easy. Ha ha.
I had no time by that point, I guessed and said that he was surprised at not spending much time in the workshop or something.

They were probably just stuck. There are only 9 of us doing credit (out of ten) and I know that a lot of them at time left at the end because they just gave up.

Glad that it wasn't just me that thought that!

Probably the hardest paper I've done yet, and this is taking into account the fact that I've done a ridiculous amount of papers beforehand in class. I thought the joinery questions were quite tricky and it was definitely a "dictionary exercise". There was one word "Zeichenbrett" that I had to look up in 2 parts and so I spent ages faffing around with that section of the paper.
Also, what did you say that he sold at the market with his dad? I couldn't catch what was said at all.

Well that was easy.. NOT. I found the general reading harder than usual and don't even get me started on the credit. It was some weird hospital for dogs and people :P I'm hoping for a 3 in listening and a 2 in Reading which would give me an overall 2 if you include my speaking and writing. German I feel is one of the hardest standard grade there is due to its unpredictability. I was sad that there wasn't a youth hostel =( Did anyone get that his mother would give him a telling off if he didn't ? My friend got that his mother was unable to do it :/

Yes, I was so confused with the word "Zeichenbrett" as well! Ended up with drawing board or something that didn't really make sense. Yeah, we've done a huge amount of papers in class as well so I was pretty shocked at the difficulty. Didn't understand why the doctor would have his dog at his work in the first place? And also the woman named 'Rosa' did she go to see the doctor because she didn't want contact with humans?! Think I put something like that.. Oh no hahaha.
I think I put him and his dad went shopping at the market because I was completely stuck. Definitely didn't pass the credit listening!

Would quite like to know how the SQA allocate time to Credit exams.
For instance, they give an hour for Credit German reading yet for Credit Computing they give almost double that - everyone was out of Computing by about 50 minutes and I know heaps of folk who didn't manage to complete the Credit German reading due to lack of time - this happens with some people in History aswell.
On a bit of a rant but still, I would seriously like to know why exams, like Computing, get 1h 45m and German only got 1h.

Same with general physics and chemistry, everyone finished practically one hour too early!
Although our school don't allow you to just leave when you finish - you have to wait until everyone is.
A little annoying I guess but also good as you're not distracted!

I've never really been in favour of my school allowing folk to leave so early. It does become distracting and can also make you feel panicked about time.

    Hardest I've ever done...
I said fruit but that was a bit of a guess. I thought I heard "Obst" at one point.

I said that she had backache because I thought that it said "Ruckenschmerzen".
I too missed the youth hostel. It wasn't even our trusty old "pen friend" this year. Just a friend. :nooo:

I put that she didn't like contact with other people as well but I don't like that answer. Why would you go to the doctor for that? And the dog being in the surgery? I mean really? :lolwut:

They pull them out a hat. It's like a "ruin your uni prospects" tombola.

Don't worry! I went to see my teacher after the exam and she told me that it "Zeichenbrett" does indeed mean drawing board.

Thank goodness the French exam was much more reliable. We had a good reunion with our pen friends at the youth hostel.

    Lucky.

Did you not have a massive bit about the olympics though? That can't have been fun. :erm:
