Re: Can I get a B in Science Core Foundation
I'm in the same situation as you are, four C's and a good coursework mark, but as long as you get a C in this year even though you are on foundation, you will be entered for the science double award in year 11 on the higher paper. Are you currently in Year 10?

Re: Can I get a B in Science Core FoundationYou don't say what syllabus you are studying but it is perfectly possible to get a B overall by getting high Cs in Foundation papers and then a really good mark (A/A*) on the coursework.(Original post by Rixion)
apparently I can, in the four exams on Foundation I got four Cs - 30,32,34,33 and in the coursework I got 14 for Data Analysis(A/A*) and 23 for Case Study(A*) and apparently this can get me a B, is this true? -
Re: Can I get a B in Science Core Foundationfor coursework that is of higher standard?
I'm in Year 11, did Core last year and it was brought back to mind when the teacher started talking about resits and results, doing higher for additional and it's proving more successful.(Original post by AM1R)

OCR 21st century, I hope it is because I need that B!(Original post by Data)

Re: Can I get a B in Science Core FoundationWell I looked on OCR and all I've seen is 210/300UMS for a B and 280/400 for a B, so I'm not sure.(Original post by Sheel1)
The highest you can get is a C on foundation only but because you got 2A* you might be on a B, do you know how many marks you need for a b?
Brilliant news, I knew whilst I was doing the exams "I feel like I could do higher" and asked and now I'm on an A for Additional so I didn't want to let a C in core hinder my chances in sixth form, thanks guys!(Original post by KatnissEverdeen)
You can definately get a B. Especially with those coursework results!

Re: Can I get a B in Science Core FoundationIt might me 280 because AQA is 280 aswell, when you mention your raw marks which sums 144 or something, is this UMS marks??(Original post by Rixion)
Well I looked on OCR and all I've seen is 210/300UMS for a B and 280/400 for a B, so I'm not sure.
If not convert it :P then it will tell you
EDIT: I can't find the ums but maybe you can/ask your teacher -
Re: Can I get a B in Science Core FoundationI have no idea how to convert.(Original post by Sheel1)

Re: Can I get a B in Science Core Foundation
to the fella that gave me a negative rating: - I'm sorry, I dont make the rules, it is common knowledge ( at least it is to me) that when you do foundation it is only because you wont be able to score above a C on higher, and that foundation should be a better option as you can ONLY get a C
-
Re: Can I get a B in Science Core FoundationThe coursework is not tiered so it is possible to pick up marks there and get a B overall.(Original post by Papacys)
if you got full marks ON EVERYTHING the final grade will be a C
that is the highest possible grade for foundation.
any higher grade requires you to do higher.
you should have done higher dude if you knew you could score better -
Re: Can I get a B in Science Core Foundationthe coursework is higher(Original post by Papacys)

Re: Can I get a B in Science Core Foundationcoursework + your exam(Original post by Data)
The coursework is not tiered so it is possible to pick up marks there and get a B overall.
the TOTAL result will be a C
THATS WHAT FOUNDATION IS -
Re: Can I get a B in Science Core FoundationThey can definately get a B, and they probably will. OCR allows this to be done on foundation papers, so stop acting like your a boss!(Original post by Papacys)
coursework + your exam

And I know from people in my class doing the same thing, with the same exam board, this year.

Re: Can I get a B in Science Core FoundationI'm not sure what you base this on, but you are wrong. You just have to look at the max marks you can obtain on each unit. The exams are tiered, coursework is not. Taking a classic exam (old spec AQA Science) where there are 3 exams out of 100 each and coursework out of 100. If you took Foundation exams the most you could get would be 69 on each, but you could get 100 on the coursework, this would give you 307/400 which is a comfortable B (the grade boundary is 280).(Original post by Papacys)
