Passing a module if you messed up your exam
    Hi there,

Generally can you pass a level 2 module if the coursework was worth 75% and you technically passed achieving 40%+ of the module on that alone even if you messed up an exam worth 25%?

There is no mention in the module catalogue of said module being a core module or that all assessments have to be passed.

It will vary from University to University, and possibly even department to department. I know at my University we just need to pass the module overall, which is good as I missed a 10% bit of coursework on one module. I imagine relative weighting comes into it too, especially in cases where people could fail the module with far higher overall marks (good 2:1s or even 1sts) than others who passed (who might do no better than passing each bit).

Depends on their discretion really. Generally if you get 35-40% they'll let you pass the module regardless, as long as you've done well in other modules or in the other assessed aspect of that module. This can even stretch to 30-35% in some cases.

If you score lower, I imagine you'll have to re-take the exam in the summer.

Tbh I'm wondering the same thing as I'm in a similar position. I've got an exam this Thursday and I've been feeling rather low the last few weeks..bad timing, the fact I completely dislike and struggle to grasp the content of this module doesn't help. Clearly I'm revising what I can and hoping the right questions come up, but if I fail I'm assuming I'll have to re-take in August (our Unis summer re-take period). I got 65% for the assignment, it's weighted 50:50, so I mean if I got 20% say, combined I'd pass. But I highly doubt that will be allowed if I get under 35%.

It's frustrating because I've done pretty well in all other modules and I believe the other exams I've done so far went okay (one meh, but I've passed I'm 100% sure of that, and another I believe I'll get a 2:1 or 1st for it.). Got 2:1's and 1sts in everything else.
