    Angry? No.
    Annoyed? Yes.
If they are fairly reasonable people who just dislike Islam then I may attempt to ask them why is this so and explain that 99% of Muslims are decent people. If they are just completely bigoted then I would try ignoring them.

Are you saying that 99 percent of Muslims wouldn't get angry if someone insulted Islam?

No I'm sure a significant amount would get angry but that doesnt mean they are not decent. Also it depends how you define angry.

What if I define it to be physically abusive?

Lets look at the Danish cartoons incident. Thousands in the streets globally, multiple people murdered and freedom of expression suppressed. What happened to the 99% of decent Muslims? One thing is for sure freedom of expression is a greater idea than anything ever written in the Qur'an.

It's a funny question as the Muslims who keep calm when their religion is insulted have the most reason to be offended by people saying that sort of thing.

All this insulting and criticizing religions is mainly based on ignorance, or simply baing unaware of what a religion truly says. I would get angry, but there would be nothing better to do than to try to explain the problem and clarify any doubts in other's minds. and at other times you have to remember that only fools argue with fools..

I gotta hand it to those who kept their composure at such times, that was Jihad in itself.

To a previous poster I am not ignorant about religion, I've read the Qur'an sadly only in English as well as the Bible. I was raised in a Catholic school and should have every reason to be a religious person. However, I was lucky enough to live in a country where we are free enough to question things without fear of reprise. Questioning these books in the light of modern knowledge clearly shows they are both false in their metaphysical claims as well as being highly immoral compared to modern standards.

As someone before said, you are either Muslim or not, if you are then that means you believe Islam is the religion from God himself to mankind and so how could the Muslim not get angry ? As for a physical response, that would depend on the extent of the insult, if you make fun of the way they pray or their fasting or their beards/headscarves then most probably they wouldn't physically retaliate. But insulting their prophet, women, God and perhaps some other sacred things might bring retaliation. If I understand Islam correctly, they have freedom of speech to a certain extent but there are certain limits which cannot be tolerated, mainly the ones I mentioned before.

I am not incensed or infuriated, per se, but I do find it agitating when people propose quite clearly absurd claims of Islam without any uncorroborated ratifications.

tl;dr. I hope the world can eradicate all forms of partiality and love us for who we are inside as the intrinsically caring creatures.

Of course one would get offended, but to conduct in violence, I think not. Only if the person verbally abusing me got physical. Then I wouldn't hesitate to knock him/her down

I'm sure if you calculate it, a few thousand Muslims WOULD be close to 1%.. So the other billion (99%) remained calm.

No, I wouldn't get angry at all but I'm sure a small minority of clowns would.

An interesting take on it, were it not for the fact that a large proportion of the Muslims I talked to about such incidents refused to condemn the actions of the mobs, or at the most said they shouldn't really have killed anyone. Not exactly outrage and embarrassment in the region that you would hope for.

    Why would they be clowns?
If someone ridiculed something you hold precious to, i.e. your mother, you would retaliate because you care about her.

Same with religion, people would retaliate, because it makes a large part of who they are.

I'm sure you have did a well analyzed study of the Qur'an

But, there's a difference between your "criticisms" and then pure insults, which revolve around pointlessly drawing highly offensive images of a religious figure.

It's not freedom of speech, but rather the abuse of it.
