    AQA English Poetry Exam
    Hello,
I've got my poetry exam on Thursday, yet we kinda started learning them all a bit late so we've rushed through the poems and my teacher said we would do a session on how to answer the unseen this week...however...due to some unforeseen circumstances she isn't in school this week and so can anyone tell me exactly how to tackle the unseen poem? It's the one aspect I'm not really confident in...
    Thanks in advance

When you get the poem read through it three times, then try and grasp what the poet's message is/what it's about. Then move on to think about the techniques the poet uses to convey their message/what the poem is about, e.g. Structure, language

That's my general thought process when approaching the unseen poetry just practise doing a few as well... It gets easier. Hope this sorta helped.

All I know is that you should remember to include 'MITSL' - Meaning, Imagery, Tone, Structure, Language.

And unseen is probably the best part of poetry, you know that everyone's in the same boat, it's creative and you're likely to be/sound more original.

I also have the english exam on thursday, what is your entry level to the exam because it might help on techniques. we also use SMILE structure, meaning, imagry, language and effect. this might come in handy.
