Re: Your Summer Reading ListTrudi Canavan's novels are really good(Original post by Ape Gone Insane)
I haven't properly read a book in nearly two years (I've listened to a few audiobooks in the meantime). University textbooks have pulled me away from leisure reading, unfortunately. Though I'm planning on changing that in the upcoming months.
- The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy: And Other Stories, Tim Burton
- The Belgariad, David Eddings
- American Gods, Neil Gaiman
- The Stand, Stephen King
- The Silmarillion and other Middle-earth related works, J.R.R. Tolkien
- The Quantity Theory of Insanity, Will Self
- Dystopian Fiction East and West, Gottlieb
- Emotions Revealed, Paul Ekman
- Introduction to Jurisprudence, Lloyds
- History of Western Philosophy, Bertrand Russell
- Discworld books, Terry Pratchett
- Duality of Genius: Shades, Blemishes and Vices in the Lives of Great Achievers, Basil S. Markesinis
- Incognito: The Secret Lives of The Brain, David Eagleman
- The Writer's Tale, Russell T Davies
- Catch-22, Joseph Heller
- How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe, Charles Yu
- Dune, Frank Herbert
- Foundation, Isaac Asimov
- Chasm City, Alastair Reynolds
- Redemption Ark, Alastair Reynolds
- Absolution Gap, Alastair Reynolds
- The Game, Neil Strauss
- Redwall series, Brian Jacques.
- The Ambassador's Mission, Trudi Canavan
- The Rogue, Trudi Canavan
And that's just what I have noted down. Plus a couple of graphic novels. I have no idea where to start.

Have you read her other ones?

On my reading list I have:
- The Other Boleyn Girl, Philippa Gregory
- The Other Queen, Philippa Gregory

), Eoin Colfer - The Da Vinci Code series, Dan Brown
- Game of Thrones, George R R Martin
- The Traitor Queen, Trudi Canavan (being published August 2012)
- Hopefully some autobiographies too
I'll add more as I think of them

-Wuthering Heights
-The Bloody Chamber
-Dracula
-Moon over Soho - Ben Aaronovitch
-The Game of Thrones books - read the first one so far

I've just ordered some more books (mostly artsy-subject geek ones
)
I'm so cool
Edit: Just remembered I want to order the second one in the Rivers of London series. It's an awesome series

Re: Your Summer Reading ListI haven't read the Age of Five ones yet, are they any good? I'm gonna nick the Magician's Apprentice from my friend once they're done with it too(Original post by Mazzini)

I unfortunately have to work all summer but seeing as how I've just spent faaaar too much money on books (just love them, it's really not good for my bank balance!) I'm gonna be not leaving the desk on my dinner breaks and getting my read on...
I've started American Gods & Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, but have Anansi Boys & Good Omens sat in my new book pile.
Around half way through My Booky Wook 2 by Russell Brand (hardly a literary classic but he's got a way with words that seems to just draw me in), and will hopefully get that finished today.
I've also got the following to complete at some point (eek!)
- Almost Like A Whale - Steve Jones
- A Game of Thrones, George RR Martin
- Watching the English, Kate Fox
- Icebreaker by John Gardner
- The Testament of Gideon Mack, James Robertson
- A Study in Scarlet & The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes
- Charmed Life by Diana Wynn Jones.
I've also signed up to something called Goodreads which is like a social networking site & app for bookworms like myself, you have bookshelves that list your 'Read' and 'Currently Reading' and it gives updates to your followers & friends as you read and review your books (be it paperback or ebook) - and gives recommendations based on what you like reading. There's also an ebook shop on it, if you want to read something but cant get a paper copy. I think it's great

Re: Your Summer Reading List
I guess I'll probably just start making my way through all the untouched books on my bookshelves. Things like The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and a few Austen's that I haven't yet read. Oh, and some Sam Bourne books that I got as presents and have never had chance to look at!

Re: Your Summer Reading List
Taking summer classes, so not much time to read unfortunately. But here's some I would like to when that's over:
Blindsight - Peter Watts (reread, really thought provoking sci-fi)
The Hobbit -J. R. R. Tolkien (sister keeps bugging me on this one, but it does seem good)
Fyodor Dostoyevski - Crime and Punishment (started in high school, I'll try again seriously this summer)
Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets (reread, only book I didn't own, managed to a hardcover copy for only $1 at a booksale
)
), Eoin Colfer
