Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!
I have a couple of queries regarding LUC The Hague, so I'd really appreaciate it if someone could help answer them.
Do all the courses start in Sept/Oct, or is there also a spring admission process. I only ask, because on the website it offers two start dates for 2nd year transfers, so I'm wondering if there is a similar route for first years?
Main question - What are the entry requirements, in terms of grades? Is there a large emphasis put on the motivational letter? -
Re: University of Leiden/The Hague! In the same boat. I'd quite like to have a vague idea of contact hours/the amount of work expected! Still, I feel better now I know I've at least got somewhere to live. Anyone else been assigned Hugo de Grootstraat 32?(Original post by annieappletoothpaste)
I'm heading to Leiden this September too, to study a masters in Politics. I'm absolutely petrified and hopelessly in the dark about it all still! -
Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!
miley- I read that entry requirements for English students is three A-levels at CCC but I'm pretty sure the entry is very slack and perhaps simply 3 A-level passes qualify- Does that help you?
Also does anybody know about the student fees/support we can get as English (foreign) students, and also whether I am right in saying it will cost us about £6,000? -
Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!I've been allocated a room in Kaarsenmakersstraat. I don't know how close that is to Hugo de Grootstraat. Anyone else been allocated accommodation in Leiden?(Original post by jps29)

Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!
Hey all,
Can only confirm what was said above - Holland is a great place to study (really high quality universities) and to have fun. I am studying in Amsterdam but all campuses in Holland are really international, because of the fair prices and good studies you will meet students coming from around the world. Plus you'll manage to get around with just English, as everybody speaks English around here.
So go for it!

Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!I've been given Rijnfront. I'm not sure what to think about that, I think it might be too far away from everything. But yes, better now that I have an offer. Had an e-mail about some of the work today, but it doesn't really explain much.(Original post by jps29)

Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!
I'm arriving on the 16th so that I can get a head start finalising my financing, along with all the little bits like Town Hall registration, bank accounts etc...
I had an email yesterday explaining some of the registration/induction information, and it said there was going to be a 2nd hand bike sale on the 31st if that helps -
Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!
I'm going to Leiden too to do an MA. Quite excited at the moment but expect I'll be terrified soon before... Didn't get allocated any accommodation through the university but was able to get a room later on in Kloosterpoort (part of Herengracht, I think), but for more money than I'd been hoping to pay. Oh well, hopefully thats all sorted. Haven't had too much info on actually sorting out my stuff to come over though.

Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!
I don't arrive until Sunday (and then can't move into accommodation until the 1st). Just seen that you're in Kloosterpoort Hobbs, must have missed it first time round - whats it like?
Also, has anyone heard any info about the induction days etc? I registered for them a while ago but not heard anything, wondering whether to email them... -
Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!
Ah ok. I moved in on Thursday, but its really nice so far, bit quiet but that's probably because not everybody has moved in yet. My room is really hot though, the sun shines through my windows for nearly the whole day, and I have a brilliant view so can't complain really.
I've had an email telling me to sign up for a Master Symposium, followed by a 2 day induction session, but that's all I've heard so far so I wouldn't worry about having not heard anything yet
Also, there's a Facebook group for our building (Kloosterpoort/Hooigracht,Middelstgracht) https://www.facebook.com/groups/258870244228084/Last edited by hobbs88uk; 21-08-2012 at 21:38. -
Re: University of Leiden/The Hague!
Ok cool, sounds good. I've had emails through now about the masters symposium and the induction sessions, hopefully they're alright and a good way to meet people. Cheers for group link as well, have joined up to that. Veering between excited and worried, always seemed so far away and now its not!
