Where have you found this information? Could you post a link?
http://www.edexcel.com/iwantto/Pages...oundaries.aspx
Then find the area and date you are looking for... for this it would be either Jun11/Jan12, and its just 'GCSE Units' (for this exam) -
Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012That means the grade boundaries will be high and to be honest I would have too strongly agree with you because they seemed really challenging and tough, where in this poem, you could just pick out lots of things immediately and you didn't really need to think for 10 minutes and could get stuck in straight away,in writing the essay.

Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012oh fair enough!(Original post by PrinceUpsb)
Yes, it was the same for everyone sitting the Edexcel 5ET2H exam, the only difference was the anthology cluster you selected
how did you find the exam? -
Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012To be honest the unseen poem was just as easy as the ones from the previous papers like "What happened to Lulu". That was in January 2012 and the grade boundary was 37/50 for an A*. Grade boundaries tend not to change by too much. Additionally most people do Clashes and Collisions and the second question was quite a challenging one as death was a difficult theme to compare with Your dad did what, as it only really features death in the last line. Additionally it was quite difficult to find substancial points to compare it to other poems. At my school many of the best english students chose the drum because it is one of the best to compare Conscientious Objector too and even that was pushing the theme to suit the answer. Furthermore in other subjects such as History A, the grade bounday over the past 4 sessions has stayed within a 3 mark range. As a result I believe and certainly hope that the grade boundaries will be similar to the past.(Original post by Dalek1099)

Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012I thought this poem was a lot easier than previous years,so much to pick and unlike the other poems that took a while to pick things out from.I agree that the comparison question was pure evil but not everyone does clashes and collisions,so I'm not sure how that will work, they might just give out marks easier.I really do hope the grade boundaries are low because I found the unseen poem and the 1st question of Clashes and Collisions to be very easy and I only was really challenged by the comparison question,of which there was nothing really to compare it to because Conscientious Objector isn't like any of the other poems and all the other poems just mention death casually,in small mentions.(Original post by sidthekoala)

Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012Found it really well thanks, you?
(Original post by Dalek1099)
...I actually agree w/ Dalek, though it was considerably easier than other papers. I sat the one in January as well and came out on Thursday feeling much more confident than I did first time round. I think grade boundaries will be raised slightly - if its usually 37/50 for A* (ish) I'm thinking 40/50 or something for A*, but I might be wrong.(Original post by sidthekoala)

Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012
A friend of mine, when given the paper for this exam was very suprised because it was foundation so asked whether they had got it right and it turned out that our teacher had switched her at the last minute to foundation without telling her. They said she would have to pay £40 to change and as her parents don't have that much money she wasn't in a position to make the decision so she put up with the foundation exam. Having been prepared for the other exam and also being very upset she now says that she might have failed it. What does one do in that situation, is there anyway she can tell the exam board?
I don't personally know of any method and the school seem to say that she's stuck with it.
Anyway just thought I'd brighten your day.

Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012If you were prepared for the other exam, that is what she should have been sitting?-What she should have done was went to the head teacher?and what were her grades, for the previous exams/coursework?-if they were low then it would probably have warranted a foundation entry.(Original post by gmseahorse)

Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012Not sure, I think she's probally somewhere between a D and a B. I think they have been to the head about it, just trying to guess at whether she could get special consideration.(Original post by Dalek1099)

Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012Too late now but she should have taken the Higher Paper then refused to pay it when the bill came. School shouldn't have entered her for an exam she didn't know she was doing, its the school's fault they should pay the bill.(Original post by gmseahorse)

Thats what I would have done, but its far too late now. She took foundation, no way of her doing the higher tier or getting over a C, sorry :/ -

Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012I often usually count B+ as a pass because you need to be above the average to pass an exam.(Original post by dgdlalo16)
c above is a pass in my eyes -
Re: Edexcel GCSE Poetry Exam 24/05/2012yeah i agree(Original post by PrinceUpsb)
in GCSE anything from A*-G is considered a 'pass', but it depends on how each person considers it. Generally below a C people do not consider a pass
if i get a c or above it is a pass!!
