Re: English Literature GCSE AQA (poetry) May 24th, Higher tierNo Im comparing it to Horse Whisperer:(Original post by Shakz)
No,No,No.....the best poem to compare ozymandias with is the river god. Both have pride and arrogance in it. Ozymandias-the king is so proud of himself and he thinks he is the best...He is also very arrogant because the inscription shows that this ruler thought he was better than everyone else. In river god..he also thinks he is most powerful and so proud ov himself,,he treats the dying woman like toys. he dont care about human life ..
Hope that helps gee

Arrogance: His charms and secrets could be interpreted that he has the highest rank
Arrogance in Ozy: The obvious "King of Kings"
Both lose their power and ive written and essay and Ive been able to find loads of similarities.
Are you sure this will come up though ? -
If you know the poems well....(Original post by humzahumour)
I'm just going to wing it... I quite liked analysing these poems learning the hidden meaning behind them.

It's very likely that Ozymandias will come up. And the question would probably be about power. So comparison with The River God or My Last Duchess would be good for that. -
Re: English Literature GCSE AQA (poetry) May 24th, Higher tierIt's English i got an A* in the mock with no revision, you just need to be a good bullsh*tter(Original post by wakzki)
I havent revised for this at all... Do you think its possible to get a C without doing any revision? I understand that I have to compare content, theme, structure, language, form and all that stuff. I just havent revised any of the poems specifically. I intend on making it all up in the exam.

Re: English Literature GCSE AQA (poetry) May 24th, Higher tierThat is wrong. The 3 poems that cannot be named in the higher paper are The Ruined Maid, Brendon Gallacher and Give. These will not come up in the paper because they are the named poems for the foundation paper.(Original post by Davidmcintyre95)
haven't any of you been told the three named poems?
1) Casehistory
2) Medusa
3) Les Grands Seigneurs
out of the two questions one or two of them will be in them :P -
