Computer Forensics & Network Security or International Business?!?!
Hi Guys,
I am stuck between both of these courses on which to actually go for! I am currently doing a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Software Development and also have my CCNA, N+, A+, MCTS, MCITP and other qualifications when I was at Zenos last year.
I have worked in the industry at Aria Technology, made iPhone apps (one coming soon!) etc. But yes I am only 18, and I do enjoy computing but I really enjoy the business aspect of managing teams, travelling a lot and other aspects. So I can't decide on what to actually take
any help guys?!?? -
Re: Computer Forensics & Network Security or International Business?!?!Not a tech job, did that as a System Builder for Aria Technology for 6 months... never again... I mainly want to become an IT Security Specialist or Ethical Hacker... but I like business -_-(Original post by UnixGuy)
Do you want a tech job? you seem to be interested in a technical career?
Get a generalist degree in Computer Science. you can always do a postgrad business degree later. -
Re: Computer Forensics & Network Security or International Business?!?!
You could always start your own business regarding computer forensics and security. When I went to University of Derby's open day (I've also been interested in and have applied for computer forensics), one of their graduates started their own business after his computer forensics degree, and the course leader said that he was doing quite well with it. Plus I'm pretty sure most uni's involve enterprising in their courses, atleast the one's I've looked at have regarding computer forensics. Plus doing computer security or forensics can lead you straight into a (private) business, and then maybe you could work your way up?

Ethical Hacker hmm, this is penetration testing, it's a tiny part of Information Security. Believe me, Information Security is all about writing documentation, security policies and adhering to standards. If you like business, then why IT? I don' think the degree itself will make a difference (IT Sec, vs. IT forensic). I'm pro getting a generalist degree then specialize later..but since you like business (and It security), then try MIS degree? or something else other than IT, like accounting.
