Contraceptive pill making periods extremely long?
I was on Ovranette two months ago, and I did as it said and started taking it on the first day of my period. I ended up having a normal period for 5 days then light period for a month so I stopped taking it. I went to the doctors this month and got Yasmin instead and I've now had a (not light) period for a fortnight. It's showing no signs of stopping and I'm going away soon and I don't want to be on my period.

I didn't tell the doctor when I went to go get Yasmin that Ovranette made my period uber long because he's male and I felt embarrassed going into detail (stupid I know). I know the long period is called 'breakthrough bleeding' but it's getting ridiculous, should I just stick to Yasmin and see if the bleeding stops or go back to the dr and explain? Has anyone else had this problem?

You need to really give each pill around 3 months to settle down with the bleeding and keep taking it even when you are bleeding. Alot of the time the 7 day break will help and you should started to settle down. If you keep changing your body has no idea what is going on and can create break through bleeding. You can come off the pill and ask for northisterone which can be used to postpone a period until after a holiday but it is a contraceptive.
