    What do you think?
I'll certainly be watching it -it looks like a stunning adaptation of easily one of the finest novels I've ever read.

I'm not keen on Baz's films, and was quite worried about his interpretation of the book - which is one of my favourite books - but this actually looks really good, and the more I think about it, the more I think Baz is perfect for the job. I know it's only a two minute trailer, but it really captures the glamour and fast-moving world of the Jazz Age in a way that the Robert Redford film didn't. I wasn't going to see this based on my first thoughts, but I'm now really excited about this

I think the casting is right on aside from DiCaprio as Gatsby. He's got too much presence, considering Gatsby is supposed to be sort of... quietly suave. Hell, Nick doesn't even realize he's Gatsby the first time he meets him.

The trailer looked a bit like a weird hybrid of Moulin Rouge and Public Enemies/Road to Perdition (I mean that in a good way, not as a criticism).

I have to disagree with one of the other posters, I think DiCaprio does seem very suitable for the part.

I literally had tears in my eyes when I saw this. The Great Gatsby was one of my Literature texts at IGCSE, and is very close to me, especially because of the self-studied American History course I did in 9th and 10th grade.

This is a disgrace. The casting is AWFUL. To put such big names in a movie like this doesn't work. When I watch it, I don't see Gatsby, Nick, and Daisy. I see the Inception guy, Spiderman, and Kathy from Never Let Me Go.
DiCaprio is too cocky looking to be Gatsby. While the casting for Nick really isn't all that bad, Maguire is too much engraved in my head as Peter Parker to ever be anyone else.
And Mulligan simply ISN'T Daisy. She is NOT breathtakingly beautiful or any of that.

And the music...I have no words.

Going to go bang my head against a wall now.

Why is it in 3D? There seems to be no reason for it other than money

I know The Great Gatsby as a novel is much more reserved than the movie, but you can't write off good actors just because they've been in other movies before.
Personally, I love the castings for Gatsby, Daisy and Nick. I wouldn't have chosen DiCaprio myself but once I saw him as Gatsby I immediately thought it was perfect.
Just a small point, but it annoys me that they've made Jordan so pale. I don't really see why they've chosen to change that aspect of her character, as well as giving her dark hair. I'm probably overthinking it but for me Jordan's appearance gives a lot away about her character, and you don't really get that in the film.

Love the book, hate Luhrmann but the trailer surprised me. I doubt it'll be that faithful an adaptation, but it looks beautiful.

Anyone watching the trailer over and over just to play Spot The Green Light?

(Must say, for Luhrmann's style it's awfully small. Was expecting a lighthouse or something.)

I can't wait to watch this! I am massively in love with Baz's other films and I hope after studying the book this adaptation will not be a disappointment. Oh and yes, I'm still wondering why this is in 3D.

I'm definitely going to watch this. I studied The Great Gatsby during A2 literature this year, so it will be interesting to see how it will be portrayed in modern film.

The immediate thing that struck me when watching the trailer, was the sense of wealth and materialism which is shown in the book, it does that pretty well.

I think Dicaprio does suit Gatsby (at least in this trailer), but I'm probably going to have to get the original image of the older actor out of my head first.

I loved the trailer, and I also love the book - I'll definitely be watching it!

I thought the casting for Gatsby, Nick, Daisy and Jordan looks very good indeed. I think in particular Tobey Maguire as Nick is an excellent choice. It's Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan I wasn't sure of from that trailer...I always imagined Tom to look more brutish and rugged, whereas in the trailer he looks like a suave 'villainous' character. I am willing to be proven wrong though!

Ooh, Carey Mulligan... loved her in Drive. I must say I'm intrigued by the trailer, more than what I was when I first heard about the movie. Loved the music too although it seemed a little too modern for the timeline of the film.

BTW, don't you think the graphics/artwork (or whatever it's called) resembles Inception's?

I think it looks great. I didn't know Baz Luhrmann was doing it so I did not expect it to be like that at all but who wants another dry BBC style adaptation of a classic. Also, I read an article about it and apparently it's in 3D because the film is going to be big on visuals of Manhattan and flapper girls which could well be interesting.

I read the novel for my IGCSE set text literature. I am in fact rather intrigued by this and shall be waiting to see it. (Even if it is 6 months too late! ) It seems to have much more action than I imagined based on the trailer. However I will definitely go see it, it seems interesting to say the least.

I like the casting - DiCaprio and Mulligan in particular, although maybe Joseph-Gordon Levitt would have been better for Nick Carraway

It looks like it will be a good film, but i'm really not liking the modern music in the trailer .. though I heard they only have it in the trailer and the music in the actual film is more 1920s-appropriate, here's hoping..
