Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadHow come you took home the paper with your answers on it? Wow, that's great! Any advice for getting an A next year at Higher? Textbooks, revision techniques? How much work did you put in to Higher Maths(Original post by -Neuro-)
See thats sensible, I on the other hand crammed. It worked for my prelim which was harder and I got full marks in it too!
I'm sure you'll get an A, but anyway I give you luck and hope you get an A
Paper 1 was lovely. Paper 2 was horrible a work of the devil!
The last question was pretty nasty. It was one of those questions where a tiny mistakes just drags you down further and futher into the relms of the Earth's motlen Iron core..... *slight exaggeration* but it was hard.
I took the paper home with all my answers on it and marked it against a mark scheme which someone had uploaded and I managed to get 95.4% and... wait for it.... the last question completely right!
Do you start 5th year before the Summer?
?
I feel as if a huge weight is off my shoulders, exams are over! It'll be nice just not to have to work so hard anymore.
And yeah, I move back into S5 on the 5th June. Next week I have some senior induction day where we learn 'skills'.. slightly pointless. I hope we don't have to get through Unit 1 in any subjects, I'm not stocking up on textbooks until the end of Summer! -
Yeah I cant wait(Original post by tasha96)
Oooh lovely. That'll be scorching!
Ill be sixteen when im there so its legal for me to drive in some places, main reason im going haha !
And why the hell did you get negged for that comment !?
This was posted from The Student Room's Android App on my GT-I9100 -
Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadI don't get why people leave early, either. Common sense would say if you were stuck to spend all the time you could!(Original post by tasha96)
Really? I've taken them for all the subjects with a separate question and answer book.
They offered me them at points!
I still don't get why they all left so early...
Ha that's true. I suppose. I'm still scrubbing at the ink up the side of my last two fingers.

Re: The Standard Grade History Thread
Hi, I felt that certain aspects of the Credit were quite difficult however the paper wasn't as difficult as I anitcipated it would be
For those who are interested, I've posted the General and Credit Papers here

Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadIf you stay till the end of the exam you're allowed to take the question paper out with you. When I check over I do the paper again on the question paper so that I don't ruin my working on my answer sheet. So I took that home and compared to a marking scheme which some genius has produced. I'm pretty sure you are allowed to do the same for Int 2/ Standard Grade.(Original post by nerd434)

For maths I would just reccomend the Heinemann Higher Maths textbook. The school probably gives you this. If you work through and try not to forget the stuff you learnt earlier you will be fine. Past papers are a big must too, I googled something like Higher past papers questions in google and I managed to somehow land myself on past papers from 1989! Higher maths is actually quite enjoyable especially calculus, logs and exponetials. The Invergordon website has loads of materials too.
I'm so happy as well! It's great to be able to do anything and not have that guilty feeling of having an exam soon.
I have no idea about what textbooks to buy for Higher!

What with that and your other (biology?) thread there seems to be someone out there with a standard grade grudge.
I'm just giving them to third year that I know. I did the same with my maths stuff last year. They're the last kids that will get any use out of them!
I know. I'd feel awful if I left.(Original post by andrew_don)

I'm going to try nab some of the 6th years books.
I'll probably get the "How to Pass..." books again because I really like them but I'll wait and see what the teachers recommend.

What subjects did you take this year? From seeing you around all the Scottish forums I'm presuming you did Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and History! What about the rest? How many subjects did you do in total? -
Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadI did 8 subjects this year in total. The 6 you mentioned plus Art&Design and French. What about you? Guessing you took Maths, History, English, French, Chemistry, Physics. I think you also mentioned PE but I'm not sure? I just looked at the side bit on the right and realised your from Edinburgh as well. Do you do Pathways to Professions?(Original post by nerd434)

I shall be going to the surgical event with a friend. I also went to the choices event with the same friend. There were 3 others from our school but they were doing the ones about law, architecture and vet med.(Original post by nerd434)
That's awesome! Did you guys get the email about the surgical lecture on the 22nd of June? Were you at the choices lecture with friends or by yourself?
Haha, it's a small world! Both of you may actually rememeber me, I was the girl who kept asking questions about banding, whether univeristies considered each element of the standard grades and genereally loads of questions when hardly anyone else asked any
Did any of you ask any questions? There was one or two other people who asked question about medicine at that event. Did both of you go with friends or by yourself? -
Re: The Standard Grade History ThreadI know exactly who you are haha, you asked about UCAS tariff points didn't you? I was just there by myself, one of my friends was meant to come for Law but he didn't turn up(Original post by -Neuro-)
