On a more philosophical note AI researchers have spectacularly failed to live up to their claims ('within 30 years of now [1970] we will have a computer which can genuinely be described as intelligent or pass the Turing Test').IMHO you cannot solve AI problems without considerable investigation of the epistemological problems.
I find it quite irritating that this comment was given thumbs down. Even Nilsson reported the ongoing failures of people in the field of AI to create any strong AI, and by no means something which can be described as intelligent. The famous piece called "What Computers still can't do" by Dreyfus put forward an extremely strong argument presenting fundamental flaws in AI on the grounds of biology, psychology, cognitive science and philosophical areas such as epistemology and ontology.
So, I wouldn't go throwing around the term "strong AI". That requires a very philosophical approach, if you want to justify that you have produced something with intelligence and knowledge, beyond emulation of human traits and creation of seemingly human rationale.(Original post by Fusion9)
I'm designing an artificial intelligence program .... to create a fully functional chatbot/strong AI which shows understanding of concepts.
BUT,
Good luck in your project!
You have balls!
