    flopped first english exam :(
I was finding it hard to concentrate in my first english exam ( about TKAMB and Inspector Calls ) and so I was a dope and read to question wrong. In section A i answered both of the questions by accident and didn't go into nearly enough detail as I would have if I had just chose one like you were supposed to...

I have my poetry exam coming up, and I'm hoping that the results of that will help boost my inevitable bad grade due the first exam

If I can do decent in the poetry section, will that help boost my grade for english literature as a whole/

You should be fine! The first paper was out of 60, right? So you could easily get half the marks, even if you did misread it a bit. Remember, they mark you on what you show you can do, not your mistakes (most of the time, anyway), providing your spelling and what not was ok, you should be fine. I messed up mine a bit too (Importance of being Earnest and Pride and Prejudice :/) ...Do we bring anything into the exam tomorrow, or is it the same lay out as Tuesday?

Thanks for the reassurance, I really appreciate it

I was told not to bring my anthology for the poetry exam, since our class have annotations throughout.

    Good luck with your exam!

Is this GCSE? If so, don't worry. I flopped my first exam last year but concentrated on the rest and came out with an A in English literature and a B in English language. There's nothing you can do about the exam that you flopped, so you may as well concentrate on doing well on the ones you have remaining.

Yeah, the poetry sections are the easiest to write about (in my opinion). Make sure you don't neglect other aspects of your exam by concentrating on only one section though. How many exams have you got for English literature? I had three; screwed up the English language (1st paper), but did well on the second English language paper and the English literature paper! Do the same, best of luck!

Got 2 for english literature - novels and poems. Done the novel paper, so just poetry to do and I'm done!

Thanks for the advice and the luck!

Don't worry, I missed out a 10 mark question on my first English exam and ended up doing another awful question on the first paper through rushing. I then had another poor answer in the second paper, and I still came out with an A*. Hope isn't lost fellow Good luck in your exams!
