Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadI agree completely, it's awful to think such a thing, but you just can't help it. These exams are worth so much, that the drama queen within me begins to rear her ugly head and I end up convincing myself that all is lost before it's even over.(Original post by Niki_girl)
Same, but for me OCR History was a killer :/ I need AAA too, and so when a single exam doesn't go according to plan I think "it's over", which is terrible, but I really can't help it. However, I'm now re-focusing in time for English lit. on wednesday!
Good luck to everyone with exams remaining
Must. Stay. Positive!
Thanks so much, good luck to you too!

Thank you, you too! Everyone just keeps telling me how strict UCL are on these sorts of things, but then again my head of sixth form said they let a girl in last year with A*AB for an AAA offer...so who knows we might be lucky!
I'm so annoyed, out of all of my exams C3 and C4 were probably the ones I was least worried about! I too put loads of time into psychology, but I did two past papers the day before C4 and got 80 on both no problem, this exam just completely threw me
Also it's put so much pressure on C3, if I don't ace it I literally stand no chance...I'm still clinging on to the idea that I just may be able to balance it out and scrape an A overall. I need 220 UMS across the 3 units, no idea if I can manage it, and even if I do it's going to be incredibly tight.
I'm not a fan of stats either, probably not great for someone hoping to do a psychology degree! I took the paper in January and got a D, which tbh really surprised me, I mean I knew it hadn't gone well, but I was expecting at least a high C, or a B if I was lucky
It did go better this time round though, I'm just praying it's enough! Best of luck with yours, I'm sure you'll do fine
They are pretty strict, but I've heard of people being accepted onto my course with ABB when their offers were AAB, which is slightly reassuring
Getting increasingly nervous about S2 now, I really have to do well, and it's petrifying to think that this is my last shot
I so badly want to go to UCL, I feel as if I will never forgive myself if I cock it up
Don't know how I'm going to last throughout summer, not knowing how my future is going to turn out
Thanks, hope so!

My fears exactly... Or even ABC, which would just be really annoying...
Same. I don't think I'd mind going through clearing or taking a gap year working or studying more, but my parents wouldn't be so happy about it... And I'm not sure I could deal with another year of living in the same house as them- they're quite... Highly strung.(Original post by Sophie1805)
Actually pooing myself.
I'm not sure if it's the actual failure to get in i'm scared of, or telling everyone else? -
Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadUnless you can get hold of a printed copy of the Clearing lists from The Telegraph on results day, you can't. Even if you could find out it wouldn't be a lot of use as what's available in Clearing changes quite a lot each year.(Original post by Lakhvir.Singh)
Hey guys,
How can you find out which universities were in clearing in previous years?
Thanks -
Are the lists printed in The Telegraph absolutely complete?(Original post by Potally_Tissed)

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadMaybe get your school tutor or something to do it. Apparently, it seems better (according to my tutor at school who taught in the UK), if the school does it on your behalf. More understanding and all.(Original post by laurie:))
i had a minor panic attack during my psychology exam on monday, had to leave the exam hall and complete the paper in a different room. the exam board has been notified but should i also tell st andrews (my firm)???
Also, thought you have some leeway, I hope it went all well.

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadSnap here - it's SO unbelievably irritating that after a year of work, everything's not gone well. I have only one more exam but it's hard to fight through revision when you feel there's no hope! Keep torturing myself with things I should have written and included and urgh... I think you're going to be just fine, you've got nothing to worry about - you've got great AS grades so there's no reason why you can't get those As again! Fingers crossed for both of us, you are right, nothing we can do about it now but hope that our work hopefully paid off!(Original post by Niki_girl)
Same. Had 2 "average" exams (not good considering I need AAA!) and a terrible History paper! HOWEVER, keep calm and carry on, in a week or so I presume your exams will be over? Think of that
It's a horrible thought, I know, trust me, (think I scraped a C in History
) but there's nothing you can do - just try and smash your other exams, you can do it!

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadI really think you're going to do awesomely, if that helps at all, especially in your languages.(Original post by such_a_lady)

What other qualifications do UCAS points take into consideration? A2 levels (obviously) and things like Welshbaq or international baq, and AS levels if you did not take them for A2. But what other grades do they take? GCSE's?
Not GCSEs
And if your offer says other qualifications aren't allowed or specifies what qualifications points must come from then any others are irrelevant in terms of meeting an offer even if they are worth UCAS points.

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" thread
In both of my exams so far I have done really well in parts and absolutely awfully in others. In my Law I'm confident of full marks or very close to full marks in the problem questions, but the essay was awful and I've probably got 5/50 if that. I couldn't remember which ratios went with which cases so ended up leaving gaps to write in the ratios as I remembered them but then I didn't, my intro was only a sentence or two and the conclusion was sort of rushed and I don't think it flowed well from going through the timeline of cases. Then in Psychology I aced health but forgot the cases for forensic so ended up not applying at all in one part B and not applying very well in the other. I'm not even sure if one of my points made sense or was actually correct.
I keep trying to work out what I've got if my resits don't improve and what I need to get in my resits to get an A for Law or B for Psychology. It seems to change everytime I calculate from either definately having scraped what I need even if I don't improve in the resits to not being able to get the grades even if I get 100% in the resits. I'm not sure whether I'm being too generous sometimes, too harsh sometimes, or I'm in-between the two. Then I'm hoping that because I answered the questions I excelled at first that they'll get into the mindset of marking an A* paper and then think I ran out of time and find more marks in my awful answer(s) at the end. Plus I know all this sounds silly but I left big gaps after each question as my teacher said it puts the examiner in a good mood so they might be a tad more generous with marks.
At least I'm confident of getting into my insurance but their offer is really low and I really feel I should be meeting my firm offer as it's several grades lower than what I'm predicted and lower than what I got at AS. Plus I've fallen in love with my firm and although I liked my insurance I can't help thinking I'll really regret it if I don't end up at my firm because they're doing the much better course and I liked the uni better. I'm sort of mentally already moving there as well as whenever I talk about going to uni I talk about moving there and the degree I'd be doing there, have been for months, to then not get the grades would really feel like the grades being taken off me rather than me not getting them in the first place.
I just wish results day would hurry up so I can be put out of my misery one way or the other!

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadIf it happens, discuss it with your teachers at school and see what they advise.(Original post by Katie (:)
Just wondering if I could apply for special consideration for my exams...
My grandma is basically dying, shes going downhill, she has severe anxiety and depression and phones up my mum multiple times a day saying she is dying/wants to die. Not only is this upsetting enough but my mum is going on holiday next week so I'm the closest family member to my grandma. My mum has explained to her that I have important exams and to try not to phone me unless there its a real emergency, however I don't think my grandma really understands
She constantly rings the house phone and if we don't answer she'll start ringing my mobile and it takes a good half an hour conversation to calm her down.
So could I get special consideration if something does happen next week because I would have to go to the hospital/look after her which would impact on revision time.

Is there someone else - a neighbour for instance - who could help while your mother is away? So that if you do get a call, you can deflect it quickly by suggesting she contact this person instead. It does sound too as if your grandmother should see her GP, if she hasn't already done so recently. -
Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" thread
I need AAB for my firm but I think I'll end up with ABC if I'm lucky which is a nuisance.
I was aiming for A*AB before my exams, but considering how terribly they went the chances of me achieving those grades are the same chance Michael Jackson has of coming back from the grave.
It did go better this time round though, I'm just praying it's enough! Best of luck with yours, I'm sure you'll do fine
