Does anyone know when the grade boundaries will be released?

I.am.so.scared
So I have got a conditional offer to study psychology at royal Holloway, AAB
So I am fairly confident I got an A If not an A* in one subject and I'm just hoping I scrape an A in my Spanish (I got a low A at AS so I retook but my A2 didn't go amazingly..) and hoping I got a high B in psych and I also have another A level (I did four )
My insurance is Southampton but they are asking for the same grades (AAB)
Anyway I have my heart set on my firm .. does ANYONE know how lenient RH are and do you think they would take into consideration my fourth a level if I only managed to get ABB ??
Thanks guys xx

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadIt's impossible to tell I'm afraid. It depends on factors such as how many other people miss offers and such. You seem to be fairly confident in your exams so I wouldn't panic too much about it just yet. Good luck with results(Original post by lanaD)

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadI have a mac so it wont let me see that stats, I was wondering if you could tell me what the ratio was for Economics, thank you(Original post by PQ)
I'm not sure where you're getting those stats from. http://www.ucas.ac.uk/about_us/stat_...s_to_download/ subject dataset for the UK for 2011 shows 1,499 degree applicants from the UK, and 1,467 students who got a place - 241 of them through clearing. And this was 2011 - the year with the highest demand for places in the last 2 decades. That's 1.02 applicants for every place - the average across all subjects was 1.51.
I know chem eng is a valuable subject, but in university terms it's in a different league to subjects like english, law, economics and most universities will have room for one or more cambridge applicant even weeks after results day.

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadIt was 1.2 applicant for everyone with a place - and 855 (16%) of placed students finding their place through Clearing.(Original post by Purehakkai)

That covers *all* UK universities though - for the more competetive econ departments it'll be much higher (although there were 256 UK students who got a place on medicine through clearing last year....and not one course was advertised...that usually makes people a bit more optomistic
)

I have firmed University of Liverpool for Electrical and Electronic Engineering; but i am highly doubting that i will get in after how the exams went. I am just wondering does Electrical and Electronic Engineering usually go into clearing for a university like Uni of Liverpool. This will give me an approx idea of whether i still have a chance of being accepted even if i miss my offer by one grade ... Just really nervous .. -

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadYou'll need to contact your insurance about accommodation, different universities have different policies on it. You'll need to contact student finance and change your course details.(Original post by Rainbow Stalin)
Does anybody know what happens about accomodation/student finance if you end up missing your firm offer and going to your insurance? -
Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadi've failed step too so no cambridge for me(Original post by xxxxkrishyxxxx)
I'm gonna just go with the assumption that I've failed STEP and that I've missed my firm and insurance offer, so I was wondering does anyone know a where I can find a list showing all the clearing vacancies from the last few years (preferably for maths)?
(I've tried googling it and I can't find it)
Thanks

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadYou're more than welcome to come and have a slice!!! ... if you're anywhere near Manchester :P hahahaha(Original post by kirino1)

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadHahahahhaha EXACTLY!!!!! omg this is gonna be the most stressful week of my life :P I hope that we both make our offers!!!(Original post by abbycarroll94)
I'm the same, they never hear 'I might be going to Oxford' they hear 'I AM going to Oxford'... not going to be fun telling them I missed my grades hahaha. So nervous! -
Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadIt's COMPLETELY unfair! :P Because there's just NO way that a single examination can reflect your aptitude or your performance during the whole academic year! I think if I were to do this again, I'd just keep my offers to myself :P(Original post by katniss)
Exactly! People think just having an offer is enough, and you feel terribly guilty knowing you could completely disappoint them.
It just strikes me as so unfair sometimes, that something you've worked for for so long can be ruined with a single letter! -
Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" threadStudent finance ticks on, but you do need to fill out a change of circumstance form notifying them that you've changed university as soon as you know where you're going! As otherwise your new uni won't get their tuition fees and will be on your case.(Original post by Rainbow Stalin)
Does anybody know what happens about accomodation/student finance if you end up missing your firm offer and going to your insurance?
For accommodation...you just enter the system as per usual. It's better if your uni open up accomm on results day as then you have a better shot at getting some where nice/that you want, otherwise you'll pretty much be given what is left. Although you have to remember a lot of people occupying accommodation vacancies will also have missed their grade so there's a likelihood you'll end up somewhere nice too! -
*Step-by-step Clearing Tips from Uni of Surrey*
Just in case
Why not do a little early research before you get your results? That way you can take a view on what other universities and courses may be an option. Make sure you look at entry criteria, be realistic about what you expect to achieve and consider some alternative courses which will still take you in the direction you wish to pursue.
Tip: You can check UCAS Extra to see which courses are still open from the end of June.
What to do if you didn’t get the results you expected
Firstly, don’t panic. Check UCAS Track or the university's applicant portal (if they have one) – some universities will be flexible and students who are “near miss” may still be offered a place.
Tip: you should be able to do this around 8am on 16 August. What to do if you were not offered a place.
What to do if you were not offered a place.
Again, don’t panic – keep calm and remember that thousands of students are in exactly the same position as you. You are not alone - help is available from your school tutors and advisors, and from the university helplines.
Step 1: call your university of choice
When you were looking around at universities, before you decided on your firm and insurance choices, did another university offer you a place which you had to decline? If so, you could call this university and see if they would still consider you for a place.
Step 2: Time to look further?
Make sure that you have your Clearing Number (this will be displayed on UCAS Track), your UCAS number and your results to hand.
Start looking at the course lists published in the newspapers and on the UCAS website. Do you still want to study the same subject, or is there something else you might consider now? Make sure you know what you want to do, as you'll be doing it for at least the next three years of your life.
Step 3: Make the call
If you see courses that you want to study are open in Clearing, now is the time to phone the university. Keep calm and sell yourself. Stay positive and be enthusiastic - the staff are there to help you make the right choice.
You will need to tell them which course you are interested in and give them all of your details (particularly your results). Quite often you will speak first to an advisor, who may then pass you on to an admissions tutor who will be an expert in your subject. Remember - keep calm, stay positive and do not make a panic decision. If you are offered a place over the phone you will usually be given a deadline by which time you need to apply for the course.
Tip: have a copy of your personal statement ready and be prepared to sell yourself.
Step 4: try again
If you didn’t get an offer first time, don’t worry – keep looking and try again. Some universities will be very busy, so keep trying and remember that things change quickly. Don’t give up! There are lots of options and you should try to be open-minded, but make sure you choose a place where you will be happy.
Step 5: Accepting a course offer
If you choose to accept a Clearing offer, you will need to visit the UCAS Track website.
Click on the 'Add Clearing Choice' button and enter the institution and course details. You can only enter details for one choice.
Universities will normally give you a date by which you must enter these details to be formally considered. Make sure you only enter a Clearing choice if the university or college has provisionally offered you a place on the course and you want to accept it.
If you enter a Clearing choice without discussing it with the university or college, this may delay the progress of your application.
Step 6: The university
Try to visit your new choice of university if you did not attend an open day - you need to make sure you have made the right choice, and if at all possible arrange a meeting with your tutors. Double check accommodation, make sure you have the most suitable option for your needs.
Hope these help
OMG I'm so freaked out now

Re: The "I'm scared I'm going to miss my offer" thread
Just out of interest.
Hypothetically speaking, someone (a good friend of mine) misses their insurance offer, would their dyslexia/learning difficulty be taken into account. Hes **** scared about missing his firm and insurance.
He was telling me that his insurance uni sent him a form to fill in regarding his dyslexia/learning difficulty.
He really wants to go uni and wouldn't mind going to his insurance choice.
Please let me know. Thanks. He keeps annoying me :P -
