David Pizarro, Ali Bernarbia, Elano, Berbatov off the top of my head. There's just something about a player in the side for technique and creativity alone.

    Fabian 'The Clown' Barthez.

Quality keeper on his day, you just never really knew what kind of day he was going to have. Some of his decisions verge on insane.

I love watching older players who may not have the legs any more but possess the experience, vision and technical genius to destroy a team without breaking a sweat. There are a good few examples but Riquelme particularly jumps out at the moment. :coma:

With that in mind, I suspect my all time pick would be Bergkamp if I were a few years older but it's definitely Thierry, forgot just how giddy he used to get me until he returned. :daydreaming:

Mesut Ozil is great to watch - his passing and technical ability are amazing. Also I enjoy Mingolet in goals for Sunderland he is a fantastic goalkeeper. And you can't deny that Balotelli's off-field antics are hilarious which makes what he does on field even funnier.

Can't believe no-ones mentioned Messi (I think). He is the greatest player I've ever seen, every time he gets the ball he looks as if he's going to do something special.

    Jheez so many so many...

Ronaldinho transformed football at his peak, I remember him during my late childhood just destroying teams and pulling off these crazy tricks :nooo: Those Joga Bonito adverts :moon:

Thierry Henry for his silky smooth finishing, effortlessly side-footed in the corner every time :sogood:

Laurent Robert was just sensational when he wanted to be as well, pity he was a moody ****.

Zidane, Rivaldo, Ronaldo - Footballing Gods

Raul was my childhood hero so I suppose I'll include him in.

Riquelme's free kicks and passing at his peak was simply astonishing.

    With regards to present day...

Balotelli is certainly a big character off the pitch so he is 'entertaining'

Hatem Ben Arfa gets me out my seat every time he picks up the ball and dribbles at somebody...

Ibrahimovic is really unpredictable as well.

who are the players that entertain you most? given the variety on here, we should have some interesting choices! let them be from any time span, and maybe justify your selections. i'll start:

Goalkeepers - Petr Cech has almost never failed to amaze me. Honorary mentions include Oliver Kahn for his sheer determination between the posts, as well as David Seaman for his career of ups and downs.

Side/wingback - I miss watching Emmanuel Eboue. Also, Ashley Cole has never disappointed me, and neither have Coentrao or the legendary Roberto Carlos.

Box-to-box midfielder - Gattuso was the man. Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer, despite their infamous incident, also consistently impressed, while Joey Barton has made an impact (for good or for bad) wherever he's gone. Football needs characters like Barton; he represents much more than a rough midfielder, in that he is something of a working class hero.

Winger - Nani is fun to watch. Also, David Beckham. I still watch LA Galaxy matches just to see what he can still do, and I never believed those who said he was overrated. On that note, I never understood the El Hadji Diouf-phobia, as many footballers are controversial athletes on and off the pitch.

Playmaker/10'er - Paul Gascoigne, or Gazza, orchestrated the games he played. My personal favourite may still remain Juninho though.

Forward/striker - Something about Andy Carroll has always kept me from criticising him. His goal ratio may not have been impressive at Liverpool so far, but to me he's a good target man. Others include Ibrahimovic, who has a real pitch presence, and as much as I dislike him as a person, Suarez for his quick-witted play. Lastly, Adebayor is an entertaining watch, do you not think?

feel free to add players from any position!
How is Andy Carroll entertaining? :lolwut: He's an average English target man.

Right okay you're definitely trolling with regards to Barton being a 'working class hero' or you're a moron.
Lee Bowyer :nooo: for 'entertaining' what?????? And he's ****ing ****e.
El-Hadj Diouf is a disgusting person, clearly you haven't bothered to find out why there is such a phobia to that cretin.

Absolute horror show of a list that like.

Bergkamp and Zidane for their technical ability which will not be surpassed. Ronaldinho and Messi for the sheer ridiculousness of their on-field performances. Di Canio and Le Tissier for the ability to produce magical moments out of nothing. Jens Lehmann for on the field antics and Balotelli for the off-field laughs.

I'm sure there are more legendary players but these ones are the ones I've seen.

Since I'm relatively new to the footballing world, I'd probably say Fabregas as an Arsenal fan is one of the most entertaining footballers I've watched. He always looked extremely comfortable on the ball as well as being able to pick any pass he wanted. Some of his football has been mesmerising.

In regards to European football, Messi has been amazing to watch. Great privilege.

It's a shame I didn't get to watch the likes of Henry and Bergkamp let alone Ronaldinho, Ronaldo (Brazilian), Zidane etc.

first of all, to me Andy Carroll symbolizes traditional English football and the classic tall, powerful striker, persistent and strong in the air. his goal tally at Newcastle doesn't lie.

secondly, i was dead serious about Barton. perhaps your little brain just hasn't been exposed to enough, but i find him entertaining because he represents something of an English working class, even on the pitch. don't be fooled by his field persona, he's a charming fellow. do watch his 'say no to racism' interview.

as for Lee Bowyer, i like his style and never quite know what to expect from him. but it's always fun to have complete cynics watching the sport too, right?

Lastly, i did mention that Diouf was controversial, so i'm not sure what you're trying to say .. was it the spitting?
