What is your favourite Film soundtrack/piece of music?
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Re: What is your favourite Film soundtrack/piece of music?
The Schindler's List main theme is a beautiful piece of music. I'm not generally a fan of film soundtracks (I generally find them a bit trite), but Schindler's List is the exception.
Actually, technically not a soundtrack, but the short excerpt of the final movement of Mahler's 6th from the "Wouldn't you just die without Mahler?" scene from Educating Rita would be my favourite. And that's because Mahler (with the exception of his 1st, 4th and 5th Symphonies), is the epitome of everything that is good about music. -

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Ennio Morricone -
(Actually, anything by Morricone. His movie scores are magnificent.)

My favourite piece of classical music is the second movement of Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto. This forms the soundtrack of Brief Encounter.
I thought the music for The Artist was amazing and immediately downloaded it off iTunes when I came home from the cinema
