de_monies, you are coming across very strangely. You seem to focus your efforts on imparting a partisan, anti-American view, and you keep mentioning the holocaust, and Nazis. Why are you doing this? I've been to Pakistan, I know the ISI and their counter-terrorism efforts. This is a discussion about Pakistan, not the USA.

You assume most ridiculous airs, and should inform yourself with greater care, instead of casting ridiculous assertions. You have implied a connection, in this thread, between OBL and the Nazis, and you have also implied that the USA hasn't been pursuing Nazis across the globe (obviously lacking the support of a wholly pro-Semitic Congress, clearly). Your focus on the USA, your deflecting of questions and assertions towards the USA are perfectly representative of the issues we face. And the talk about Nazis, and the Holocaust? Well, to me that rings a little too much of Ahmedinejad. If I wanted the opinions of a stooge I'd give the buggers a ring.

I agree, and I suppose my posts come across like that, but people keep on playing the blame Pakistan game, and the "This would never happen in the USA/UK card" and I'm showing them the hypocrisy

Though I will say, I am an anti US foreign policy

They play the card because in the debate surrounding Afghanistan, terror, the USA and Pakistan it is one of the key issues. The Pakistani establishment is responsible, for many of ISAF's failings, and should hence be treated as a more important factor. Without the ISI, at the highest level, giving covert support to the Taliban this conflict may have been much cleaner, as it was in 2001, when the group had no links with the Pakistani establishment. Our tactics worked back then, and they don't now. Coincidence, or worth debating?

One of the most legendary moves of the 21st century. I honestly underestimated Pakistan, I mean, don't get me wrong, their government is still corrupt and should be toppled.

But from the Muslim perspective, they did what allot of other tyrants never would have had the balls to do. They've got to be given credit for that.

That guy is lucky he hasn't been executed. You never ever give a Muslim over to foreigners, especially not one who have killed thousands of your people through drone bombings.

Even if the Muslim had committed some crime, your meant to hand him over to Muslims who can try him by the Shariah, not some random oppressors who only ended up killing him without a fair trial or anything; just murdered in cold blood.

What, hide a terrorist and then lie about it?

Meaning that you always hand over non-muslims to foreigners

Agreed. This was treason and he got was he deserved.

The US has cut the aid to Pakistan in response to Pakistan's move. Thank God they've cut the aid, they've done us a favour, hopefully Pakistan wont be as subservient to US foreign policy.

We dont need US' money, they can keep it.

Exactly bro. Funny thing is, USA would've done the same thing in this situation, probably worst since they execute people for treason.

Sad thing is, maybe people would've understood the USA's point of view in this, had they maybe captured Bin Laden, given him a fair public trial, evidences presented against him, doubts removed, all those big questions answered... But nah, instead without authorization, they went in the night and shot him with his back turned, in complete cold blood murder. Then they dumped his body in the sea without a proper Islamic burial.

They have no right to say anything in this.

And yeah, so glad they're making a stand.

In fact, they have. The US harboured Ali Saleh, dictator of Yemen for "medical treatment" back in January this year. This is a guy who has, as of March 2012, killed 2000 protestors, injuring 22,000 others.

Agreed. Im just hoping they dont convince the Pakistani government to open the NATO supply routes into Afghanistan. Pakistan is keeping the the US in check at the moment.

Oh, ok, one level above the HinduTimes. Still doesn't make a difference, No one (who has actually studied the life of Bin laden) is going to believe Bin Laden had a stash of porn, especially when it's "according to the US".

Such propoganda, but when you have people like you who buy into it due to your irrationality, it thrives.

    edit: read your source aswell

Specifically, the officials said they did not know if bin Laden himself had acquired or viewed the materials.

i dont think anyone has studied the life of bin laden more than the US. And they have found similar porn stashes in other raided islamist premesis.

Are pakistan jailing doctors and not these porn couriers in case they damage the delivery mechanism?

I hope he gets granted citizenship, and it's clearly wrong.

However, to cover all points of view, suppose an American helped Pakistani forces conduct a secret raid in America to kill a Westerner? They would be a little irritated. What gives the USA the right to violate the sovereignity of another country, when they would never suffer the same in return?

I don't agree with Pakistan, I think it's a gross injustice, but I do see their thinking. I'm also not entirely convinced they wanted Bin Laden killed.
if it was to kill a known terrorist im sure we'd all be very grateful

Yes , it was porn addressed to a Mr Osama Smith.
probably went to the wrong address and Osama forgot to send it back.
But certainly helped the CIA out no doubt.

has that ever happened to you?

actually the fact that a saudi bin laden attacked the west then fled tail between legs to afgansitan then pakistan, bringing with him hundreds of thousands of deaths is pertinent. This doctors actions has probably saved the lives of a few million asian muslims - a fact we will come to realise int he future. And his reward in terms of muslim logic is to be locked up for 30 years

You really do not know anything, do you ...

The doctor was hired by the CIA, at a price of $10k (pocket change for the CIA; they bribed the Northern Alliance $13m in Afghanistan in 6 weeks of 2001.

He was hired to carry out an immunisation program in Abbottabad. The object of this program was to hopefully gain DNA samples of the occupants of the house Bin Laden occupied. Not to find him or kill him, just a little job for his handlers. The mission failed.

The CIA suspected that Bin Laden was an occupant of the house; they tracked everyone leaving and entering the house. They used a laser microphone to ascertain how many occupants the house had, and noticed there was one occupant that never left the house. This was the evidence that prompted the new program.

The doctor was not arrested for treason. He was arrested to set an example; the Pakistani government is giving him such a high sentence to discourage collusion with the Americans. They want to be the ones giving the USA (faulty) intelligence, and they want to keep their aid.

The government wouldn't be - Pakistani forces acting in America without their knowledge? That's a fundamental threat to the heart of a country, regardless of the target. To a less secure country like Pakistan it would feel like an invasion.

Like I said, I'm not justifying it, I just think that most actions are rationalised by the people who perform them, and it's a mistake not to try to understand that rationality if you want to counteract them.
