Ok jetzt kann ich dich nicht glauben Mein Lehrer ist auf Cambridge studiert, und obwohl viele Deutsche sagen dass er sehr toll in Deutsch ist, wuerde ich nicht sagen, dass er ohne denken Deutsch sprechen kann.

Hast du ,Wort für Wort'? Ich hab auch viel Angst vor dem Aufsatz. Hoeffentlich werde die Fragen über Geschichte ganz nett sein. Höffentlich werden wir eine Frage über Persönlichkeiten.

Ich hab Wort fuer Wort Ich habs aber nicht wirklich benutzt denn ich habe es ein bisschen zu spaet gekauft (nur zwei Tage bevor dem Aufsatz )

Abhandlung seems like a word for a very academic 'paper' as supposed to a school essay. Vllt koennte man "Aufsatz" sagen?

I did mean paper, but as in test paper, as I was trying to find translation topics, rather than essay titles.... Entschuldigung wenn das unklar waere. Vielleicht, waere Pruefungsarbeit besser?

the best thing we can do is learn all of the topic specific vocab from the AQA textbook/ Wort für Wort and hope nothing really weird comes up.

That's what I'm currently attempting, ended up with a vocab list of over 650 words though.

Last year for french, we had something weird on oil tankers or something, but it turned out that some of the key vocab was in the AQA book, similar to the essay titles being dicussed in passages in the book for AS. typical me, i hadn't bothered.

I'm more scared for the English - German, as at least i can guess the other one!!

Same. I've a knack of making DE-EN look easy, almost effortless at times with the random bits of vocab that I know. (One of the words was population density) yet I make EN-DE look so hard.

For AQA A2:

There are three main topics done nationwide - environment, social problems (racism, immigration, law and order), and science/technology and morality (stem cell research and stuff).

In addition, you do two cultural topics on German-speaking places This can be either a period of history, an area of Germanophonic world, a film director's work, a book, or a playwright. The questions in the exam are normally pretty vague because the scope for content is huge.

The exams are split up as follows:

Unit 3 (150 minutes/110 marks):
This is like the AS, except instead of grammar questions you get translations both ways. The essays in the exam can ONLY be on the culture topics, btw. This is 70% of A2.

Unit 4 (35 minutes/15 mins speaking time):
This is the oral. You first of all get a choice of two cards like last time about the three main topics, and there are two arguments on there about a certain issue (eg pollution). You get 20 mins to prepare your argument, then this part takes up 5 minutes of the speaking bit. You basically debate with the examiner, fighting the corner you've chosen.

The remaining 10 minutes is devoted to the culture topics, each getting five minutes. As you can see, it seems it's vital to learn your culture topics!

3 set topics:

Umwelt

• Pollution
• Energy
• Protecting the enviroment

Die Multikulturelle Gesellschaft

• Integration
• Immigration
• Racism

Heute Gesellschaftliche Fragen

• Crime and Punishment
• Wealth and poverty
• Impact of technological and scientific progress

These three you must cover and one of these 9 subtopics you will debate in the A2 speaking exam. On top of this, you must choose two of the following topics. Both are discussed in the exam.

• A target language speaking region/ community
• A period of 20th Century history
• A dramatist or Poet
• A director, architect, painter or musician
• An author - involves study of a novel/ seris of short stories.

In the exam, like AS theres listening and reading and writing. The writing is an essay on ONE of the cultural topics, and theres also the translation from german to english and english to german. 2.5 hours to do the lot.

Edit: Heute gesellschaftliche Fragen can be a bit boring/ a pain in the ass if you don't do biology/ chemistry
