I wrote this too. I think you will get marks for it...(Original post by CreativeSkyline)
For the assumptions question, would I get a mark for saying that tension is equal throughout the string?

Speaking to my Maths teacher today, she thought the exam would have grade boundaries typical of what we've seen for the past few years, however, they might dip by one or two grades.
Personally, I think it will be two or three marks higher than January 2012's exam for each grade. So, as it was 59 for an A in that exam, I think it'll be like 61/62 for an A in this exam.

Re: AQA Mechanics 1B 24 May 2012 Unofficial Markschemei did that, you are always supposed to round to 3dp anyway so you would lose a mark for not doing it(Original post by Kenyan)
and how many marks would i loose for rounding up the the reaction force to 118 in question 5bii
-
Re: AQA Mechanics 1B 24 May 2012 Unofficial MarkschemeNone, the answer should be 118N, as it states on the front of the paper all answers should be given to 3sf, unless otherwise stated in the question, which it wasn't.(Original post by Kenyan)

Re: AQA Mechanics 1B 24 May 2012 Unofficial MarkschemeI've asked this a couple of times and no one seems to know. It was out of 6 marks so possibly 2 or 3?(Original post by 1platinum)
By the way for people who got 5.83 for the south-east question, how many method marks are we likely to pick up? -
Re: AQA Mechanics 1B 24 May 2012 Unofficial MarkschemeI reckon 3 sounds about right. It is difficult second guessing how they will mark!(Original post by mojopin1)

Direct from paper...
(c) State two modelling assumptions, other than those given, that you have made in answering this question. (2 marks)
doesn't mention block OR particle.
(c) Find the speed of the particle when it is travelling south-east. (6 marks)
Definitely 'travelling' south-east -
Re: AQA Mechanics 1B 24 May 2012 Unofficial MarkschemeBump (last time).(Original post by mojopin1)
Can anyone upload the paper? -
Re: AQA Mechanics 1B 24 May 2012 Unofficial Markscheme
On the last question does anyone remember what the initial velocity was? I seem to get t = 3.43 but i'm not sure what the initial velocity was so my working may be skewed.
Since 3.43, 3.45 and 3.46 are so close, do you think they'll award full marks for any of these?
im gonna say i probs got about 64/65 out of 75. Reckon that will get me an a ?
