I'm about to start an LLM in Medical Law and despite wanting to enter 2013 GEM, I would still love to continue researching and potentially publishing something in the medico-legal sphere. My main areas of interest are things like body as property, organ transplantation/donation (ethical/legal issues), medico-legal in practice.

What are the opportunities for continuing this during/after med school? Have you been encouraged to research or attempt to publish materials other than those directly related to your course?
