AQA GCSE Chemistry Unit 2 Exam New Specification, Thursday 24th May 2012
Since there wasn't an exam discussion for the new spec chemistry unit 2, I've decided to create one. I found it okay, the 1st question I found very hard considering I never revised for gas chromatography. Overall it was quiet easy.

How did you find the paper??????

Alright, harder than the mock papers etc although that will mean lower grade boundaries hopefully.
I didn't like the how science works q's such as the one about why science alone couldn't answer a question.

Personally, it was quite easy - not that easy. I answered all the questions and had 15 minutes to spare. It was so much easier than Unit 1. What do you think the grade boundaries would be?

Yh, I hated the question about why science alone couldn't answer a question but what did you put for that. Also on the 6 mark question, was it talking about the precipitate? And also on the question about "What information does mass spectrometer give" did you put molecular ion peak?

yeah, ikr. i put the second one.
it was talking about how to form a salt from potassium hydroxide or something like that and it didnt say about precipitate.
yeah i put that too, i put other stuff too, so i can get the mark.

    I think the grade boundaries will be quiet high probably 48 A*, 40 A, 32 B, 26 C.

What did you put for the 6 mark question???

err, i put something about how an acid and an alkali make a salt and just went into details, you?

It was 48 for an A* on Unit 1,so why do you say 48 is high.I do this exam next year.

For the maximum mass question, I put 2.64g. Don't know if that's right.

ooh, i got 82 in biology. got 89 in chemistry ( D: one mark of an a*) so i am aiming for a a* to balance it out.
    ooooh. you might be right...

I PUT THE MOLECULAR ION PEAK! Haha, you have no idea how much that actually means to me - no one else who I spoke to put that. I hope its right :L

On the six mark question, i put about universal indicators and evaporating the remaining solution and stuff. Hope you did well!

I got this too . it was weird because when I was checking through my exam paper at the end I realised that the relative formula mass for the calcium oxide was 56 not 46! So I had to quickly change it. I got this after so I'm glad I got it right in the end What did you put about the lid on the chromatography paper one? I put that it was so the solvent wouldn't evaporate.
