Re: Boring Barcelona (football)What do you mean by "they normally would have scored"? You might as well have every shot count as a goal. Who's to say they score them all the time? The entire Barca attack were average in that game. It's like saying Liverpool should be 4th place because of all the times they hit the bar this season.(Original post by Jim_Metrin)
Wow oh wow. If good defending involves telepathically willing the Barca players to miss shots they normally would have scored then yeah it was good defending. Had that been a team like Blackburn with all those chances and misses the media here would have said it was awful defending that should have been punished by goals galore. If you cant see that then your blind. Hypocrisy at its finest.
If that team was Blackburn, then everyone would say how rubbish and below par the Barcelona attack was... -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)Wonder why no ones backing you up ? Because your argument is so flawed and stupid. Mods should just ban you already.(Original post by The Doggfather)
Why should Chelsea be embarrassed? For humiliating Barcelona in their own back yard? For making Messi look completely average, for exposing their major flaw (no plan B), making their passing game look useless?
Should've, could've, would've - no! What happened, happened for a reason! Barcelona weren't good enough both offensively and defensively and lacked a plan B. There's no denying that. End of the day, Chelsea are European Champions and Guardiola quit Barcelona.
Funny how no one mentions how Barcelona lost a 2-0 lead at home, against a 10 men Chelsea side who had Bosingwa and Mikel in central defence. -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)
It's quite simple really. If you have the ball, your opponent doesn't and so you can dictate the play and stop them from scoring. Possession is key.
Yes it requires a lot of patience and build up play so can be boring and slow, I see that but at the same time it's very effective. -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)No they wouldnt have they would have said how Chelsea defended awfully and that Blackburn should have put them to the sword. Yawn your arguments are becoming worse and worse(Original post by The Doggfather)

Re: Boring Barcelona (football)If Chelsea defended awfully then why did Barcelona only score 2 goals? Why did Cech save almost every shot? Why did the defenders deal with almost every ball that left the feet of the Barca players? Bosingwa and Mikel were in central defence too.(Original post by Jim_Metrin)

I don't even support Chelsea
How is my argument flawed? -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)the german side play the same way though and they were incredible in the world cup(Original post by Jim_Metrin)
And this is why England fails at world cups because they try this whole ****ty hoof up to the striker. Your mind is seriously messed up if thats how you really feel. -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)No the Germans did not stick 10 men in defense... They actually tried to attack.(Original post by a.partridge)

Re: Boring Barcelona (football)He was talking about long balls...(Original post by Jim_Metrin)

Re: Boring Barcelona (football)It's still far less direct play than my preference (i.e. the three teams I mentioned in my post).(Original post by scotttb)
They only do it against **** teams like Chelsea who put 10 men in the box.
Their games are pretty open in Spain where the teams try to play football against them.
Really? It's up to my subjective self to choose which type of football I prefer to watch? Holy **** what a revelation(Original post by scotttb)
If you're tired of watching good football because its 'cringeworthy' thats up to you though.
Thanks for the pro-tip bro!!
"Good" football is YOUR definition, one that I do not neccessarily share depending on team. So, do please get off your high horse.Last edited by UnWise; 26-05-2012 at 16:37. -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)I completely agree with you on this, in my opinion Real Madrid are the best team in Europe and play the best football. Its fast paced and that what I like, not 4 yard short passes between the defence...(Original post by razmazterz)
I think Real Madrid are the most exciting team in Europe! -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)1) Only score 2 goals? You make it sound as if scoring 2 goals against Chelsea is a walk in the park. Having said that...letting in 20 + shots in a game doesn't indicate that you have had a good game.(Original post by The Doggfather)

2) Because he is a goalkeeper and he is meant to save them.
3) Did they? They let in 2 goals and Drogba was so deep that he gave away a penalty in his own area.Last edited by DorianGrayism; 26-05-2012 at 16:41. -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)What a surprise the Chelsea fan love the type of football they played. I bet had Barcelona or Bayern tucked their numerous chances away instead of fluffing them you wouldn't feel that way. Funny isnt it(Original post by UnWise)

Re: Boring Barcelona (football)Haha so true. Ironic they love the way they park the bus, Parking the bus is now spectacular football!(Original post by Jim_Metrin)

Re: Boring Barcelona (football)Are you pretending to be dumb or did you actually bother to read my post? I'm not fond of Barcelona's way of playing at all(Original post by Jim_Metrin)

Funny? Woah! You're easily entertained, aren't ya?
...oh my ******* God...I have yet to express my preference over how Chelsea played the game(s), but hey...keep the bandwagon rolling(Original post by Bryci)

Re: Boring Barcelona (football)Messi missed a penalty, gave away the ball in the runup to Drogba's goal, failed to score, failed to perform well, tried to do it all on his own(Original post by DorianGrayism)

Drogba gave away a penalty but scored a goal, 2 MOTM performances, played in literally every position on the pitch, knocked out Barcelona
You say how letting in 20+ shots doesn't indicate a good game but does it matter? Would having 80+ % possession indicate a good game for Barcelona? Did Barcelona have a good game? -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)I'm a Chelsea fan and I find this ludicrous, so I very much hope that you were being sardonic.(Original post by prakashpatel4579)
I'm sorry, but you can't knock Chelsea, they are the best team in Europe. -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)In what way did Germany play like that in the World Cup? Are you joking?(Original post by a.partridge)
the german side play the same way though and they were incredible in the world cup -
Re: Boring Barcelona (football)No one ever said it was spectacular football, it's called tactics. If the other team is attacking, then you have to defend to stop them scoring, simple concept?(Original post by Bryci)
Haha so true. Ironic they love the way they park the bus, Parking the bus is now spectacular football!
The spirit and emotion the Chelsea team played with is incredible and they fully deserved what they got. I don't remember you criticising the way Inter played against Barca, by which Jose got the tactics spot on, the same as Di Matteo has done. If you have a better way of going up against Barcalona, then let us hear it
