    Chemistry/psychology as 5th AS?
    Hey,

I'm starting A-levels this September, but I still have no idea which AS subject to take: Chemistry or psychology?

Here is the list of what I'm taking.

    1. French A2 (I've self-taught AS)
    2. English language and literature
    3. Biology
    4. Self-teaching History
    5. Chemistry/Psychology(/ and maybe even German)

    Massive rant:

As for the question of which degree I'd like to take at Uni, that's the thing. I'm really indecisive. I'd like to choose English literature and History, but on the other hand, taking a scientific subject would allow me to 'diverge' from the typical 'artsy-hipster-douche-takes-godkillmesubject-to-show-pretensions' route that many of my kind take--just kidding; science would allow me to be able to write science-fiction better.

No point in 5th AS. Do 4 and do 'em better.

It's mom's choice. She does not trust me on my ability tackle AS History, so a fifth AS is sort of a backup plan.

Besides, I'm technically doing 4AS, and I'm fluent in French (debate-level fluency).

    Ah, ok that's cool. You can just drop one anyway if you need to. :}

What is your actual reason for choosing chemistry? I know a lot of my friends struggle with it and if you're not choosing it because you like it/need it for uni, you might not be motivated enough to work as hard for it.
Personally, I'd say psychology. It's not very hard, so is a good choice for an 'extra' a-level, since it won't affect your other grades as much as a harder subject would. Obviously I don't know your strengths etc though, so you'd have to decide for yourself how hard you'll work/whether you'd find it relatively easy taking 5.
Chemistry would be good to keep your doors open, since you have biology, but it's not really worth taking it if you think you want to d history/english. I thought I might want to do a science so took maths and a science at a-level, to keep my doors open. Once I realised that actually what I wanted to do at university didn't require maths I became totally demotivated because I couldn't see the point in taking it.

Hmm for your purpose Chemistry as Psychology is still kinda an essay subject, but really like others of said 5th AS kinda pointless so Psychology as it's a lot easier.

I like Humanities and Sciences. I am good at Maths. I don't like Maths.

I was just checking you weren't choosing chemistry totally based on keeping your doors open because I know a lot of people have done that and realised they actually hated the subject.
