I don't think it really works in Britain. Even when it's a hot day, by the evening it's always cool enough for trousers. Besides, the temperature indoors here never really gets higher than a club gets naturally from having a lot of people in it.

ive seen guys wearings tutus out on the town shorts will be no issue, although if its a vagualy posh club they might take offence, really depends where you go

I went fancy dress as a geek out once; the outfit included shorts. So yes, I should imagine it's acceptable.

I think you can as long as your shorts look like these in the second and 4th pictures from left to right:

You can wear them with a blazer and decent shoes (not runners as in these pictures, it would be too informal) and I'd say it could be a nice proper outfit for a nite out in this hot weather.

I did it once, only because we were heading to a beach themed thing then the plans changed at the last minute. Got away with it then, but it wasn't really a high-class kind of place. Dunno if I'd risk it in the posher clubs.
