Re: Edexcel Unit 2: Geographical InvestigationsWe did Uganda Nokia Village Phone Initiative. I dont think this one is compulsory and could go down as Rural Rebranding.(Original post by Spellstheend)

Re: Edexcel Unit 2: Geographical Investigations
How would you answer 10 mark questions that are like:
• With reference to examples, discuss the role of the players involved in rebranding.
• With reference to examples, examine the role of different players involved in the rebranding process.
Those are two past questions. What do they mean by role?

CASE STUDIES UNIT 2
Crowded Coasts
Competition for coasts - Lancashire coast, Blackpool, Benidorm
Coping with the pressure - Dubai, Dibden Bay, Boscombe, Southhampton (In general)
Increasing Risks - 1953 storm surge, 2004 Asian Tsunami, Colonou, Thames Barrier, Holderness
Coastal Management - Holderness, Isle of Wight, Severn Barrage, Cliff House Farm
Rebranding
Well because there are many strategies I've categorised them further.
Sport - London, Sydney, Manchester, Sheffield student games, South Africa world cup
Culture - Liverpool, Guggenheim Bilbao, Tate Modern
Image - York, Eastbourne, Lake District
Sustainable - London, Sydney, Leicester, Curitiba
Farm Diversification - Big Sheep, Lobb's Farm Shop
Technology - Cornwall
Media - Goathland
Heritage - Big Pit, Jurassic coast, Dove Cottage
Art - Hay on Wye book festival
Flagship projects - Eden Project, New Islington
As you can see there are loads... Of course there is usually more than 1 in each category for more knowledge.
Also, the role of players is what they do in rebranding, like the international Olympic authority decide who hosts the Olympic games. -

Re: Edexcel Unit 2: Geographical Investigations
Evaluation would be say you carried out fieldwork on a rainy Monday morning on a beach - there would be nobody there.
Could you have carried out an environmental quality survey every 5m (systematic)rather than every time you saw a red car(random)?
Presentations would be using ge graph to plot your data from EQAs carried out in different place and then for example you could say that this method shows you that the scores were higher near the river -
