need help with my prom dress...shoes and accessoriesHeyy, so I bought this dress:
http://fashionfinder.asos.com/womens...-dress-1007552
love it, it's really flattering and suits my kind of style but now I'm really struggling to decide how to accessorise it. My main problem is my limited budget.
Firstly, I have no shoes to wear with it. Personally I'd love to just go in sandals haha i have quite a boho beachy hippie indie vintage (plus ten other different styles) kinda style
but obviously with everyone else being in heels, it being a formal event and me being only average height i cant really get away with not wearing heels. I have been looking on www.chockersshoes.co.uk cos they're cheap and so many of them are lovely but I'm lost!!
Secondly, What kind of jewellery do I wear with it?? originally i thought gold but then decided that will probably look quite tacky (however i did want to go for golds/bronzes with my makeup
)
So basically, I need someone with a better eye for this kind of stuff to sort me out
I've spent hours trawling through endless sites and have come up with nothing!!
Thanks in advance
p.s. I'm pretty skint but post any ideas and i can always look for cheap alternatives -
Re: need help with my prom dress...shoes and accessories
if you'd rather wear sandals wear them! it doesn't matter what everyone else is wearing :') cheap heels..have you tried New Look 'cause they do lots of pretty shoes at a reasonable price?
For accessories, I'm wearing purple for my prom and accessorising with black or dark grey...but I like the more gothic look
so how about silver? it'd look nice with the purple and there's loads of stuff out there!

Re: need help with my prom dress...shoes and accessories
I don't think gold would look tacky! I suppose it depends what jewellery you would be wearing!
There's obviously a lot of details over the dress with the lace, so I think just a small, gold piece would go well! It has quite an open neck so something small to fit there would be good
I like this one! But if you want a bohemian edge, then this would also be pretty
I know the second is quite long, but I think it would still look good!
Feel free to wear flats if that's what you feel comfortable in! I wore kitten heels to my prom. Big mistake. I'm a heels-wuss so I had to take them off after 1 or 2 hours. (And I'm only 5' 1"!) But if you want to look taller in the photos, then I'd go for wedges. You can find the heel height of a kitten heel, but because the wedge is big, it can give the height of stilettos. That might not make sense, but basically they are pretty comfortable for heels. Colour-wise, you won't have to worry too much, because your dress is obviously going to cover most of them. I'd go for a colour that you could wear again with different outfits (i.e. black or nudes)
Also, I love the dress! Not sure I would wear it (purple doesn't suit me at all) but I love that's it's not a generic strapless number with a puffy skirt. Different in always fun! -

i had a quick peek on new look earlier but i can need find anything that's quite 'me' enough and nothing jumped out that would go with the dress...not sure what style of shoe to go for; wedges, wedge sandals, shoe boots, standard heels??!? arrgghhhh the efforts of being female!!
yeah i am leaning towards that kind of dark silver for my accessories (think its called pewter??) thank youu

Re: need help with my prom dress...shoes and accessoriesawww! it's quite a tricky dress to imagine which shoes...I'd probably either wear flats or platform type heels with it - plus platforms don't kill your feet half as much as other heels! similar colours to accessories would be quite nice(Original post by stephie.u3)

best bet at finding reasonable priced ones and getting a good idea is to just go round town and look everywhere for inspiration!

tell me about it...lol that you actually clicked on the link!!(Original post by morris743)
Argh way too many shoes stephie...my head be spinning
oohh thank you so much for actually looking for some accessories, the second is very pretty so I'll keep my eyes put for something similar and it was a nice kind of gold not that tacky yellowy tinged gold so maybe gold is still an option!! yay!!(Original post by tsr-member)

teehee i know exactly what you were explaining and its a really good point about the wedges seeing as how long im gonna be wearing them for, i wanna stay away from black but nude is deffo an option.
thanks, i knew as soon as i saw it that it was the one...i.never really go for the 'usual' cos i just feel silly when i do but at the same time i don't want to look stupid so im glad you like it!!

Re: need help with my prom dress...shoes and accessories
first of all nice dress!! i think you dont have to wear a lot of jewellery with this dress just a simple necklace and some earrings (gold is fine in moderation but wear gold jewellery especially if your planning on gold makeup) - if i knew how you were doing your hair i could be more help deciding what kind of
earrings. Erm for your shoes you can still wear sandels just heel sandles the colour black is a safe bet and just add a small black bag to tie it together
some examples of what i'm on about can be found

Hope this helps a bit have fun at your prom -

thank youu!! hmm seems like i will go for gold then, i agree with just having a simple necklace and the one you chose is quite cute. I think im having my hair in a waterfall braid so it will be back off my face but will have it wavy/curly...for earrings i quite like feathers but dunno if they will go and i don't like sparkly things.(Original post by v22)
