    Higher Spanish 2012 Exam Thread
Hello, to my knowledge I don't think there is a thread on this....
Anyone else sitting Higher Spanish this year? The exam's in just over a week's time!
How's everyone feeling about it? Tbh not studied very much as I had Advanced Higher French today so really focused on that!

Re: Higher Spanish 2012 Exam Thread
I was just thinking about starting this thread earlier!

I'm not really bothered at all...Despite only starting Spanish this year and only starting the Higher course in like January, I've been getting almost full marks in all the past papers we've done, and I got 93% in the prelim (which got sprung on me ten minutes before I did it, because I did it later in the year than the other two Higher people), so I'm hoping I can get an A quite easily. I'll probably go over some grammar and vocab, might get more past papers whenever I'm in school next week, but I don't know...

What topics do you think will come up?

I've really enjoyed doing Higher Spanish this year! Got 92% in the prelim which I was chuffed with considering the reading was quite difficult Got 25/25 for speaking too! Umm, I'm hoping for cinema and TV or a school one tbh...

    What about you?

Re: Higher Spanish 2012 Exam Thread
Well done! I got 25/25 in the speaking too, despite the fact that I said "aussi" instead of "también" in the presentation and "avec" TWICE in the discussion, oops. At least we got a good laugh out of it!

I don't mind what comes up - some topics I haven't covered at all, and the ones I have, they've all been covered quite thinly, so I don't really have any topics which I'm better or worse at. I'll find some vocab before next Friday, and we get a dictionary, so it's not like I'll ever be completely stuck.

I'd quite like something about part-time jobs while at school, or even school in general, or maybe home area. Those are the three I'd say I've had the most practice with.

I also got 25/25 in my speaking despite speaking some French!

I'm thinking the writing following the listening will be on health considering the Olympics and the fact it has not appeared in years! However it is my weakest topic so I was wondering if anyone had any good phrases to help me out?

I got 25/25 for my speaking too! that means everyone that did get it has 25% of the final mark to begin with

I hope its a good directed writing, the italian one this year was really simple! apart from the translation which seemed really difficult! however.. ¡buenaventura!

hola he conseguido 25/25 por el hablando examen asi que ya tengo 25%! sin embargo, estoy muy nervioso para el escuchando :gasp:

In English now, I hope the reading is good and the directed writing should be fine becasue I've learned all the phrases. The directed writing sometimes is a bit hard, not because my spanish is rubbish but because I just can't think of things to write about, even if I had to write it in English :O

I'm feeling pretty confident for all of it apart from the short writing, but I think I can still make up something plausible for that using the dictionary.

I've been doing well in all the other parts so my theory is that even if I completely nose-dive in the short writing, I could still get an A!

I really hope that the short essay isn't on health as I feel like that is my weakest topic!

Personally I think that the short essay will be on family/friends or tv/cinema. These topics have not come up in a while (last family/friends one was 2002 and last tv/cinema one was 2005)..

Been doing all the past papers and feeling confident about reading and directed writing. Feel that I'm improving in my listening as well short essay will the most difficult part methinks.

I think just about everyone here got a 25/25 for their Spanish Oral Exam...well chuffed!

I haven't studied as much for Spanish because I felt I had a pretty good chance in getting an A so it was the last thing on my mind.

I have a feeling that the topic for Short Writing would be on Technology because that has not come up in a while.

    The EXAM'S TOMORROW! Soy nervioso!

    Bueno suerte, chicos!

This is soooooooooo last minute, but does anyone know how long we should be spending on the actual reading paper and translation and how long we should be spending on the directed writing...i never know when to change over and always end up rushing nearer the end. Any help?

Thought it was a breeze. When I saw the listening was on health my jaw actually dropped in horror because I didn't revise that and barely covered it in class, but luckily it was easy!

In the directed writing I may have gotten a bit carried away and written about how our day trip was to see an orchestra which "Rafaela's" aunt was playing the cello in, and they played Beethoven's 5th. I couldn't have done anything normal could I?

Overall it was very good! Reading and Directed Writing were fine (although one question was a bit iffy to answer!)

Listening was also ok considering it was health - my worst topic but the people spoke very slowly in it so that helped a lot haha. :P short essay was fine as well!

Exams are done and now to enjoy a long summer!

Usually, my listening is terrible. However, I might've got a B for the listening because they spoke so slowly! I was almost laughing due to the speed of it. What did people put for 7 B, what she had changed? And also 9 I think, the one that you had to say what she said about young people? Sorry for vaguely remembering the q's

The two essays were both fine (panicked when I saw exchange student, but then realised we didn't have to write about it).

    Reading was good and interesting!

Overall, maybe an A? Good seeing I got three hours sleep last night.

My whole class panicked when we saw exchange student in the first line of the DW and thought that they were visiting scotland. Also how slowly was she speaking?- I wanted her to hurry up she was taking that long... but the short essay was a pretty good topic so overall I think it went okay

    I said:

7b. She changed her dietary habits/the foods she ate.

    9. Most of them take the car everywhere so get no exercise.

I found most of it okay but what did people put for the last listening question?
