Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsbecause teams were scared of attacking in case they were hit on the counter; golden goal created very tentative football.(Original post by J.Star)
Blatters gonna blatt.
I think it should go back to golden goal and then penalties.
Golden goal used to be so tense, when did they stop using it in the major competitions? -
Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsWell best of 11 instead of 5?(Original post by Banishingboredom)
It would be fairer if every player on the team had to take a penalty. Then at least it's a "team" effort.
Why continue if one team went 6-0 up after 6 penalties a piece? -
Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsYeah, i meant best of 11. I just think it would even it out and make it less of a lottery.(Original post by SirMasterKey)

At the moment the winning team gets decided by the penalty contributions of 4 or 5 players only.Last edited by Banishingboredom; 25-05-2012 at 14:28. -
Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsThat would be incredibly racist! Imagine if it was Ivory Coast vs England. We'd be ****ed!(Original post by Kenan and Kel)
Obvious alternative is a dance-off. -
Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsWe'd need a choreographer and a lot of rehearsal time, then we may have a chance(Original post by Banishingboredom)

Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outs
"Wah wah wah" cry your eyes out Blatter. It isn't paranoia- FIFA and UEFA do genuinely despise every English victory.
What's even more annoying is that according to the BBC;
"Fifa president Sepp Blatter has asked Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer to come up with an alternative to the "tragedy" of penalty shoot-outs."
So when he doesn't like something he's willing to make huge changes but when it comes to goal-line technology, which everyone else but him seems to want, he drags his heels kicking and screaming. Might as well call it Blatterball.Last edited by Aramiss18; 25-05-2012 at 14:47. -
Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsFootballers already have it easy enough having to play 90 minutes a week, occasionally having 2. And getting 3 months holiday in the summer.(Original post by Akkuz)
I'd like to see the golden goal. Simple, fair and effective method of ending a football match. The only problems are players get injuries/cramp and perhaps TV schedules/rights?

Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outs
And the assault on anything UK related continues;
"The Congress was also told the British privileges which guarantees the four home nations their own FIFA vice-president were outdated, and that a decision on this will be made at next year's Congress.
Theo Zwanziger, the German in charge of revising FIFA's statutes, said: "I have a lot of respect for what the British have done for more than 100 years, but football has moved on and it is our duty and obligation to decide if the privileges are still justified in our time and age." -

Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsThe oversimplification of how much training etc they do is mindblowing.(Original post by JaggySnake95)

Why come on a football forum if you are going to be such an ignorant ass? -
Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsIt's not ignorance, it's just simple comparisons between football and other sports. Compared to many other sports footballers do have it easier. Of course many footballers are great athletes, but they complain far too often about their training and match schedules when other athletes from other sports just get on with it. This isn't helped by 90% of footballers rolling around on the pitch as soon as any contact as made just so they can win their team a free kick or get the other player booked.(Original post by Tommyjw)

If you want to discuss, then sure I'm happy to. -
Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsHow so?(Original post by JaggySnake95)

Footballers train every day, just as much as much as people in many other sports.
Please find me a few examples of large amounts of players complaining, thanks.but they complain far too often about their training and match schedules when other athletes from other sports just get on with it.
1. Vast exaggeration.This isn't helped by 90% of footballers rolling around on the pitch as soon as any contact as made just so they can win their team a free kick or get the other player booked.
2. Nothing to do with what you are discussing
But thanks for the irrelevant point. -
Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsWhat is the point? You clearly don't do serious exercise on a regular basis otherwise you would know from personal experience that what you are saying is garbage.(Original post by JaggySnake95)

Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsNow that's ignorance right there. I'm not saying footballers are unfit, but they don't have the right to complain when many other sports have far worse schedules.(Original post by DorianGrayism)

Re: Blatter on penalty shoot-outsThat one's probably fair enough, to be honest.(Original post by Aramiss18)
