I don't think plum pudding will come up again as it came up alot on Jan 12 paper. Thank goodness because I hate that topic. Probably all the speed-time graphs etc and mometum. All the normal stuff, defo take a look at earlier past papers. They are repeating questions more recently now which is good

Like usual, I'm sure a question on how a safety feature helps reduce the chance of getting a serious injury. The answer for these very common question is simple:

The time taken for the change in momentum increases(1 mark)
This decreases the rate of change of momentum (1 mark)
The force exerted on X is reduced (1 mark)

I strongly advise all taking this paper to revise the above answer as the question is either 2 or 3 crucial marks.

Also another common question worth 2 or 3 marks is on why an object increasing its speed leads to acceleration falling down to zero. The answer is:
As speed increases, the drag force rises (1 mark) until both drag and forward forces are equal (1 mark). This reduces the resultant force to zero (1 mark).

Past Papers really are the ULTIMATE sources of revision. Doing ALL question papers 3 times and memorising common questions' answers build up a lot of confidence.

    Good luck on the exam

what question what the paper ask when you would have to give this answer? also, can anyone send me P2 2012 paper please.

can someone help me with a question about KE?

a ball is hit straight upwards has a gravitational potential energy of 242J at the top of its flight and its KE is 242J before it hits the ground.

but i need to calculate the speed of the ball at this time if its mass is 100g.

    the answer is v=square root(2xKE/m) so sqrt 2x242/0.1 = 69.6m/s

First of all here's the Jan 2012 P2 Higher question paper and marks scheme:
    QP:

    MS:

    http://physics.bounce1.info/bigbangs...W-MS-JAN12.pdf

    ENJOY

btw, this may help you for revision:

An example of being asked to recite those 3 points is the question, from the Jan 2011 paper, below:

"The airbag deflates when it is hit by the driver’s head.

Use the idea of momentum to explain why the airbag reduces the risk of the driver sustaining a serious head injury." (3 marks)

I'm not so sure on your question on GPE and KE.

I don't understand P2 much at all, its so different to P1. I only get nulcear fission/fusion, so In the exam I will be like, Ah, well I fail.
But I think it will be okay, half the marks is a C so maybe I can scrape through, I got a B in C2 and I think I did well on B2 so I got aleast a B there, so I can afford even a D in P2.

Just gonna keep reading my revision guide and hope for the best.
& I agree with the person who suggested compiling a list of common questions with answers we can remember easily, that would be so helpful!
I can't understand this, but I have a good memory so if I get a couple of straightforward common questions I can remember the answers for those marks could be crucial to me. (:

I agree. P1 had very little maths and so much English. Suddenly P2 has far more maths, little English and is far easier than P1 somehow for me.

Just do every past paper 3 times and I guarantee you will be aiming for atleast an A. Don't worry.

    Hello, smelly!

Start here. Read through all 6 pages, do the activities and then try the test bite at the end. It should help. Come back with any questions you have.

Is there a grade boundary for this paper? Please

Go on google type in AQA UMS converter then click GCSE, click physics unit 2... And grade boundaries should come.
