Hey guys! Have any of you applied for accommodation at Nelson or Drake House for 2012? I'm really liking what I'm seeing on the Unite website about it and I've seen it was quite the popular accommodation when it was working with UWE , although now they've changed management.

yeah i'm in nelson, just gota sign the agreement. Very much looking forward to it, it's not as secluded as the "student village". Also the cheapest halls i think and said to be one of the more social places to live

it used to be UWE run but now it's under Unites management.

Did you get the chance to visit the halls? I talked to someone that stayed there in the first year at UWE and she was very pleased by the looks of it and the social scene. I know it used to be run by UWE, it's sad that they gave it up, I would've like to be in a UWE-managed hall, but Markegate didn't seem like my type.
What course will you be doing, if I may ask?

I've stayed over there when a friend lived there. It's not bad, you get what you pay for really. UWE managed/unite manged, i don't really think there is much in it to be honest. Both will have students going to UWE. From what I've been told it tends to house peoples doing the creative subjects. Audio & Music Tech.

Although i stayed there two years ago, when UWE ran it, so things may have got better/worse since unite have taken over.

Also went to a mates living in market gate. didn't like it too much to be honest

Okay, thanks for the info! I'm going to book a room in either Nelson or Drake House the following weeks . Hope it's not all taken, don't wanna book a room until I find out my final grades!

I think nelson/drake are just one building. They arn't all taken but they fill up quick.

At the main UWE campus in Frenchay.

They're not just one building, they're 2 buildings located next door to each other at least that's what I've read

im moving in to nelson on the 3rd floor in september! i'll be a second year next year but i wanted to stay in halls so yeah XD

and yes nelson and drake are different buildings right next door to each other, nelson's a lot bigger though

Yay, more people in Nelson! I'm applying in 2 weeks.
And I don't know about the rooms, randompickle, but it would probably take a reasonable amount of time, since this year's tennants' agreement probably just ended. Probably not too long though, I hope long enough for me to get a room in Nelson haha Oh also you had the option to apply as a group, so if you find other people that you'd like to share with, maybe u can still be in the same flat as them
