I dont live in the UK, but honestly I find it utterly shameful..goin out in skimpy clothing. I find it hard to even think how those women deal with the fact that theyre barely covered and putting themselves on for display to the rest of the world. No offence, but that would be my opinion.

Is there another option for those that just don't like wearing shorts? I don't know why, but I'm much more comfortable in a pair of jeans - even in the summer.

Personally I don't think the weather is justification alone because it's simply not that hot especially compared to other Asian countries in which you find the women don't dress as exposingly. I know they have their own culture where women cover up but I just don't think they would do it to such an extent if it was unbearably hot - alternatively they wouldn't leave the house lol.
Won't the people who have lived in hotter countries throughout the majority of their life be more used to high temperatures ?

in all fairness though, you see more and more men wearing no top nowadays, 'because it's hot'
I saw one man in just his boxers yesterday. Or maybe they were just tight shorts...

    Re: Question To Every Female
I am neither of those options really. I wear shorts (not up my bum though) and a top - neither are revealing but I don't cover up either, why should I? I wear what I wear because it is hot and so I can get a nice tan and to prove I am not doing it for any 'attention', I haven't actually been anywhere except my house and garden over the last 2 days due to work.

Also we are not used to these sort of temperatures like they are in Asia, and when the sun comes out we want to make the most of it!

I don't get this thread though, are you saying it is wrong for females to wear weather-appropriate clothing? You see loads of men wearing t-shirts (or lack of) and shorts so why can't females?

EDIT: Can someone please explain why I am being negged??

None of the options apply to me... I wear short skirts etc but always with tights. I mainly wear them because I have long legs and also it's very hard for me to find decently priced trousers that are long enough.
And I don't dress like girls in your question 1 (revealing everything) because it only cheapens your appearance if taking to the extreme.

That image is ridiculous (I know you're not being serious). Firstly, they're two different women. If you're going to make a comparison of someone being contradictory, at least use the same person. Secondly, even if it was the same person then it would just apply to that person and would be their logic and not women's. And finally, men do this as well. Try to pull a man's shorts down and see his reaction. Yet look at what he wears at beach.

Op, you're argument makes no sense. Women in Asian countries don't wear that because it is socially unacceptable and could even be illegal depending on the country. It has nothing to do with hotness. Why do men wear shorts and vests in summer? Because it's hot. You're only questioning women's motive because their bodies are more sexualized in our society.

And go to thread tools a little above and to the right of your post and click make a poll.

I've always seen people of both sexes wearing little clothing come summer. No noticeable increase detected.
That being said, Bexhill is made up of 80% old people :moon:

I would do a poll If I knew how to but I am more interested in what your opinions on this issue are.

Summer is here and the public places are filled with women showing more of their bodies than what they cover. I am not here to discuss the effects of this on society, is it right/wrong... I just have a few questions to the female gender.

    1. If you are among these women who go out in public with a mini skirt half way up your thighs, slippers and a sleeveless top uncovering your abdomen and back do you do it mainly because:

    a) To get the attention of men, show your beauty to them - you like people gazing at you out of lust ?

    b) It's really hot

    c) Everyone else does it

Please be as honest as you can otherwise this thread is a waste. You might do it as a combination of the above, feel free to give your own reasons not included above, but I want to know what is the main reason.

    2. As for those of you that don't go out revealing your body, meaning you cover all your skin except face, hands and so on... Do you do it because:

    a) You would dress like the people in number 1 but don't have the body to do so

    b) You are attractive or something and have bodies which you aren't ashamed of revealing, unlike the category above (2a) but you don't do it out of what you might call modesty. Meaning that you are genuinely shy of showing your thighs, abs, breasts and so on to the public.

My main curiosity lies in finding out whether there are many type 2b's in the UK, women who genuinely feel that their bodies aren't for the public to gaze upon out of lust and are only for their partner.

Once again, please answer honestly or don't answer and you are welcome to give all your comments on this issue but please note that I don't want this to turn into a thread discussing the consequences of public vulgarity or whether it's ok or not but I want to know why whether there are any type 2b women out there and why women dress so revealingly.

I have left this last purposefully so you don't forget - If you are comfortable doing so then an age range at the top/bottom of your posts would be good, although I expect most people on here are 12-25 or something.

    Thnx
Number 1. I wear skirts because I feel comfortable in them and I like the way they look. I don't own any cropped tops but I think it depends on how tastefully they are worn as to how much someone wants attention from men. You can wear them in a non sexual way.

To be honest I think "fashionable" girls never dress for men, have a look at fashiontoast.com a blogger, she wears revealing clothes but in a way that doesn't necessarily attract men.

I dress the way that suits me. I look short in trousers so I wear shorts or skirts.

    Re: Question To Every Female
I generally wear shorts/skirt and a vest top/similar, or a sundress. I do it because it's hot, it makes me feel summery, and I'm confident enough with certain parts of my body. I would never wear crop tops etc simply because I don't like my stomach enough.

What religion ? And is it something that you obey and dislike but still obey in religion or you genuinely dislike dressing showing yourself to the public.

This is my opinion in a way, if it is because of the weather then that is one thing but some women treat the streets like their own bedroom, I swear! I saw someone today in something close to a bikini just walking in town, I don't see any motive for doing that other than wanting everyone to gaze at you lustfully.

    (Original post by Mr Dangermouse)
Why the hell would anyone complain about it?
This isn't the right place as I said in my OP, but this would be an example of effects of public vulgarity. I know some people can't comprehend this common example, but how you feel if that was your sister/mother/daughter/wife.

Ofcourse I haven't covered every women out there, I have given the two extremes feel free to comment on yourself.

You are right, I don't say my "other country" point is a good one, even valid for that matter, all I am trying to say is that the heat isn't such that some women need to dress the way they do.

Yea, but it is more common with women, I could have made a thread about men going around in boxers and that bewilders me too, but I can quite confidently say that when you see a man in nothing but boxers on a street you are more disgusted than impressed. With a women however, when they go out in a bikini people stare with lust.
Also I doubt the man's intention is to get women to stare at him, if it is then he is highly mistaken as it is just disgusting and turns the majority of women off.

    (Original post by Summer_Lovin)
Well I am between 1 and 2. I wear shorts and a top - neither are too revealing but I don't cover up either. I wear what I wear because it is hot and so I can get a nice tan

We are not used to these sort of temperatures like they are in Asia, and when the sun comes out we want to make the most of it!

I don't get this thread though, are you saying it is wrong for females to wear weather-appropriate clothing? You see loads of men wearing t-shirts (or lack of) and shorts so why can't females?

    I am 21.
Yea I couldn't get the whole spectrum, that would be impossible but how do you not call shorts revealing ? Your knees and and chest are out there for men to stare at ? And is the purpose of the tan for personal happiness or so that you can use it to show off in public ?
As I said my Asia point didn't come across the way I meant, I just mean to say that for the sake of modesty it wouldn't kill most women to at least cover below the knees and cover the majority of their torso.

I didn't say it's wrong, I made that clear in my OP, I just want to know why do they do it and don't they care that the whole public can see the shape of their breasts/but and more...

I am not talking about t-shirts and shorts, besides the clothing of men and women can't be compared in that way because men don't have breasts to cover hence their t-shirts can be more revealing. I am talking about the women going around in what you would only have expected to see on a beach a few years ago.

So you agree that revealing too much - even though it may make you look stunning - cheapens the appearance?

    (Original post by Annoying-Mouse)
That image is ridiculous (I know you're not being serious). Firstly, they're two different women. If you're going to make a comparison of someone being contradictory, at least use the same person. Secondly, even if it was the same person then it would just apply to that person and would be their logic and not women's. And finally, men do this as well. First of all, I asked the Op of the picture to remove it and I ask you to remove it, I haven't seen it and don't want too.
Secondly womens bodies aren't more sexualized in our society, they are more sexualized in every society. When a man wears a vest and shorts women don't stare at him out of lusts and besides men don't go around in anything revealing most of their thighs... I am talking about the women who are incredibly extreme in how much they reveal, the people you give a second glance, I just don't get why they reveal so much ? Do they literally not care that almost every man is seeing the outline of almost every part of her body ?

Yes, I do. But none the less, if the person revealing a lot is comfortable in that attire then I suppose it's up to them.

    Re: Question To Every Female
This is what I have on right now :

    Spoiler:
    Show

Why? Because the outfit is cool enough for this roasting weather, and the clothes suit me without being overly revealing.

I would never dress like a slapper. Likewise I would never dress like I'm amish when the weather is roasting.

Do I wear it to get a guy's attention? Primarily no, though if my husband says I look nice then it's a bonus. I couldn't care less what other guys might think.
