It's one of the resonance forms of the product that would be in the basic solution of the reaction. It just needs to pick up a H+ (oxygen lone pair forms a C=O and the C=C pi bond bonds to a proton).

Ya it was one mark and also the mechanism to get D was there also so now how many marks 3 marks it was and its quite obvious that u cant draw the mechanism
to get D with out knowing what is D rite? :wink:

Oh ya the ring is cymmetric so it cant form the cis trans isomerism
is it like same functional group is attached so no cis-trans
