Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deciWhat did you like about SSFC and what other subjects did you choose?(Original post by RolyBholi)
I went to SSFC! I loved it- best 2 years of my life
I also studied maths there.
EDIT: Also, which Maths did you choose. Pure and Statistics or Pure and Mechanics? I'm going to do Pure and Mechanics if I decide to go to SSFC. -
Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deci
I'm in the same position as you, I've got places at JCC, SSFC AND Cadbury college.
And i'm going to JCC.
Here are my reasons:
JCC is the closest out of the three, (SSFC being almost 2hours away)
It's in a great location, 10minutes from town. Ladypool, stratford and mosely road around the corner.
JCC - small but brand new campus, meaning theres more of a 'one to one' feel in the college.
From what ive heard, from people that go to JCC, is that it has a great Science department as a whole, better than SSFC.
Also both my elder siblings went to JCC, and have recommended it to me
PS
people that i know, that go to SSFC, say it's great for english and essay based 'a-levels'. -
Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deciHave your siblings told you how much free periods you get? Anyway you've made the decision harder for me because the other guy recommended SSFC. Both are a similar distance from where I live so it's just about which college is better.(Original post by Tayib)

Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deci
JCC has something like a 20% pass rate on to 'OxBridge'.
Its also the best preforming college in terms of A-levels in Birmingham (from what it said on the induction letter).
not sure about solihull, as it isnt really considered as 'in Birmingham'
Both are good colleges.
Pick the one which suits you.
I'm going to JCC as im picking: Biology, Chemistry, History and Sociology or English Lit.
The humanties department looks great so does the science department. The campus is excellent and well i would be used to a small campus as i go to Kings heath which is relatively small. -

Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deciI loved the atmosphere there. Although when I was there, the canteen areas were quite segregated, I still found it a really enjoyable place to be. It was like my second home.(Original post by Ferrari_1996)

I chose Philosophy, Religious Studies and Psychology (dropped it). And I did Pure & Stats.
I don't know anything about Joseph Chamberlain- it might be better than SSFC, but I know I really liked it there

Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deci
SSFC isn't bad for maths and science, though that isn't to say it may be better for essay based subjects (I only really have experience with mathsy subjects (+philosophy), and indirect experience with essay based subjects due to friends).
There are a mixture of teachers there, so its a little bit of pot luck as to if you get a good one or not, but there are certainly good teachers for your subjects. I'd say about 60% of the teachers I had for maths I would consider good, and due to the size I was able to pick and choose what modules I did (as I was doing FM).
You do feel a bit anonymous at SSFC due to its size, but that has its positive sides as well, its a lot easier just to get on with your own thing without too much interference

Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deciI have no knowledge of JCC so I don't really know in terms of a comparison, but SSFC is certainly a pretty decent place to go to, and you'll certainly do well there if you do decide to go.(Original post by Ferrari_1996)

Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deci
You've asked this bloody question several times! what do you expect people to say? Their both fairly decent sixth forms , just pick one! Consider questions such as which is nearer? which has the better atmosphere? If you still can't decide come August , flip a coin and end the matter there. No one on here can decide for you , you have the make the decision on your own accord!!!

Re: Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College vs Solihull Sixth Form College - Can't deciDude chill. Obviously I'M going to make the decision, but I'm just looking for advice. That's all.(Original post by Hero-H)

Stephanie is one of five JCC students going to Oxbridge this year.
Unless only there are only 25 students in the whole of JCC. -

I think you'll find most colleges and further education providers put misleading statements in their prospectuses and on their websites.
It may be the case that 20 students applied , 5 of which gained an offer.
Regardless of the Oxbridge admissions statistics , remember that by simply attending a good college doesn't warrant you a place at a good university. Hard work and determination are required! You could go the worst school in the country and still end up at Oxbridge as unlikely as it sounds!
But OP seriously , just attend both induction days and decide from there
