OP, ignore this post, this guy is vastly overexaggerating the amount of calories you use through exercise.

If you truly are eating 2000 cals a day (and only you know that since you can't/won't tell us what you eat each day) then you're probably alright.

Did you used to do any exercise at all before you started this regime 3 weeks ago? You could well need more rest. You're doing a lot, not many rest days. How much sleep do you get?

If you're doing the same weight movements every session, that means you're doing them all 3 times a week? No wonder your muscles feel tired. They need time to recover.
    hey thanks for your reply.

    well todays food intake was

    frosties with skimmed milk.

    a muller light yoghurt.

    fresh pasta with sauce.

    pizza.

    chocolate.

    strawberries

no i didnt really do any excercise before. i do have rest days because i only do strength 3 times a week and cardio 5 times with none over the weekend. do i need to do less?

its all so confusing lol im such a gym noob

OP I don't know why people are being so aggressive and unfriendly to you!

Sounds to me like you are just a bit unfit and your body is still adjusting. This is totally normal It takes a while to build up stamina. I'm unfit at the moment because I am recovering from knee surgery and I'm absolutely shattered after doing any exercise at all, even just walking to uni.

It takes time to build up your fitness level. Keep going with it and in time you will feel awesome after exercising.

And yeah obviously you have to eat properly and keep hydrated etc, but I'm not sure this is really your problem.

please post what you eat on a typical day.
    ok typically i eat

    ceral with skimmed milk.

    some fruit during the day.

dinner can be anything- pasta, pizza, curry, chips, jacket potato (whatever student crap i want)

and normally a lot of chocolate.

so basically my crappy diet really needs changing. Ive been looking up some better meal ideas- especially for high protein, low fat to help me tone.

i think people get easily frustrated when noobs like me come along haha!

i always feel amazing after a gym workout its just for some reason when im doing it i get more tired than i did before  like normally on the treadmill i dont start getting tired until after about 10 mins, but today i felt like i could barely carry on after 7 mins (though i did and i was fine)

If you were informed enough to know how much you should be eating you should be informed enough to critically analyse your program and see why you are tired all the time.

It could be iron deficiency, it could be serious lack of food due to girls guilted out of putting calories in their mouth in modern culture, it could be that you don't get enough sleep to recover, it could be all of the above.

If you're going to cross out anything someone puts forward then enjoy being tired all the time.

    Regards.
Uuuh, logic please? How does dismissing a single suggestion equate to dismissing all suggestions?

Well if you've gone from nothing to this routine it will take a while to get used to it. Even if you'd already been doing stuff and stepped it up or something then it will still take a bit of time to get used to and you will feel tired for a bit.

So one tiny breakfast (the most important meal of the day), a decent sized dinner and snacking along the way - I could be wrong but that doesn't sound like 2000+ calories to me at all. I don't think you're eating enough, especially the breakfast.

Dont know if this makes sense, but basically for about 3 weeks ive been going to the gym Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Swimming Tuesday and running Thursday.

Do 25 min treadmill, 25 min bike and 3 sets of 12 reps on all the strength stuff. (abdominals, leg press, biceps, triceps, pull down, row, shoulder press, chest press)

The problem is every time i go i seem to get more tired than i did when i first started going, even though im doing exactly the same.

Today I could barely push the shoulder press, even though ive had it on the same weight for the past 3 weeks.

And i got tired so much sooner on the treadmill than before.

Im eating the exact same, so its not an energy thing.

If im being really stupid or doing a wrong routine or whatever can someone tell me! Thanks
Maybe you're straining your muscles and they don't have time to repair and then you can't lift the weight because they're strained.
You should excercise one muscle and then leave that for a full day and do another.

You need a carb up/re-feed day to restore your glycogen stores, assuming your on a caloric deficiet from your cardio.

oh trust me im eating enough

just the machines like abdominals, leg press, back extension, chest, pull down, shoulder press, biceps, triceps, row etc.

Not the free weights, too scared to enter that area yet

and i dont want to be size 0
    a) not eating enough
    b) not sleeping enough
    c) something not able to diagnose over internet e.g. Iron deficiency, glandular fever, aids, multiple STD's etc. = go doctors ask for blood test.
    d) combination of all the above.

    people need to chill...

How many hours of sleep do you get per day?
    What's your diet like?
    What is your goal?
How much weight have you lost/gained in the time you've been training?

Here are 2 meal planners to give you an example of what you should be eating. The first one is a 2000kcal planner which is used to basically getting fit. The second is a 3000kcal which should be used for bulking up and gaining muscle.

PS ~ Are you drinking enough water?

    2000kcal

    3000kcal

If you get tired at the gym it all comes down to when you are eating.

Its ideal if you eat a balanced meal 2 or 3 hours before you go gym; this will mean you will have bags of energy. This is solution if you are getting tired trust me. Also eat fresh not pizzas etc..Think fresh food when preparing to eat then you will feel fresh.

    An example of balanced meal:

Boiled vegetables, chicken, eggs, and pasta etc with water and banana as after.

Trust me eat fresh and eat balanced before you go gym about 2 3 hours and before gym and you will have bundles of energy for shoulder presses/treadmill....etc

Lots of bad advice on this thread.

    Might try this.

I usually take a short nap before doing my exercise; I noticed that I feel drained after the nap :/

How do you manage weights and cardio in the same day? If you're doing them properly, you'll surely need to keep a good 6 hour gap at least, maybe more, between them. I can't do both in the same day. A jog then weights, sure. But cardio and weights consecutively and I think I'd pass out.

It's ideal to eat 90 minutes before a workout. Someone above said 2-3 hours, that's just too long.

Looking at your OP and subsequent replies to other posters, I'd say its a combination of not eating enough food considering how much exercise you're doing and not recovering properly, e.g not getting enough sleep, too much exercise.

Maybe you're just an amateur? I don't know anybody who is serious at the gym that does cardio and weights consecutively. You can only do that if one of them is done at light intensity and then you have to question the effectiveness of doing that. There's a reason why people do things like HIIT on separate days. It's intense.

A light jog after weights is hardly cardio either. If you go all out on weights there's no way you can do a proper cardio session. My guess is if you're doing both consecutively then you're not training hard enough.

Please explain your method, else you're just an amateur pretending to have a clue and sound clever.
