will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?
so far i have the following grades
c1 - b - 70
c2 - d - mid d i think cant remember how many ums
stats - b - 73
mech - u - dunno how many ums
------------------------------------
i still have the following exams to sit in june to complete my maths a level;
c3
c4
so what would i have to get in these 2 modules to get at least a B?
please help me its stressing me out!!!! and idk how to calculate how to get a B (yes i know bad for a A level maths student lol)
thanks in advance if u do help! -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?so would i need 2 an A for each module at least? and how high of a A do u think will i need? also do you think it is possible as i have 16 days left till my c3 exam then a week after that till my c4 exam? do u think it is realistic for me to get an A?(Original post by TenOfThem)
A B is 70%
70% of 600 = 420
70 + 55 + 73 + (39) = 237
420 - 237 = 183
So you need over 90 UMS in each
If your U was <22 you can't -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths? The answer to "how high an A" is in the information I have already given(Original post by dummie)

DO I think it is realistic ... well if you really did no work at all during Y12 and those marks given reflect that AND you have worked solidly all this year, recapping things you did not know in C1 and C2 and doing loads of practice on every C3 and C4 topic ... ensuring a complete understanding of these topics ... then yes, an A is realistic in these papers -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?Tbh, i get surprised when people taking A-Level maths can't make a simple calculation(marks needed to get a B) which an year 8 student can make.(Original post by TenOfThem)

OP, don't mind. -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?
I did the exact same thing as you, for the looks of it, you'd have to be perfect at C3 and C4 to get it. And let me tell you, if you struggled with everything else, I doubt you would be.
These were my grades:
C1 - 93
C2 - 85
Mechanics - 70
statistics - 81
And then I failed C3 and C4:
53 and 54 respectively (I ended up with a B)

Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?o yh of course i wouldnt mind u comparing me to a yr 8 student!(Original post by raheem94)

if ur not going to help the why bother posting -

Why, may I ask, did you not think about doing M1 again?
With all due respect if you fail M1, although not directly linked, I feel 90+ on C3/C4 would be hard for a student in that position.
Nobody can tell you if you are going to do OK in these exams or if doing x number of papers/hours leading up to the exam will work.
I don't care how much people don't like M1/S1/D1 there, IMO, should be no reason to fail a unit yet aim for a B grade overall. -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?I completely agree. I'm baffled when people make threads like these, shockingly it happens most with maths!(Original post by raheem94)

Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths? Not sure why you are not retaking C2 and mechanics. Without retaking you would need over 90 ums in both C3 and C4. I don't mean to be rude but given your previous marks that isn't very likely.(Original post by dummie)

I am quite sure that an year 8 student can make such calculations, but such questions come up many times on this forum by A-Level students and it looks surprising that they can't do such a simple thing.
You know that you need 420 for a B.
You have got 70+55+73+U=198+U
70+55+73+U + C3 + C4 = 420
U + C3 + C4 = 222
So if you get 22 in M1 and 100 in both C3 and C4, you will get a B.
If you get less than 22 in M1 then no hopes for B.
Is it hard for you to make these calculations? -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?well i sat the m1 exam 2 weeks ago and havent got the results yet but i am convinced i got a U and i cant resit cuz its my final yr in sixth form(Original post by kozo)

so i know its late and all but im hoping to revise really hard for c3 and c4 as its all down to them really now -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?ok thanks well i think its cuz ive been doing so much a level maths i forgot basic maths(Original post by raheem94)

Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?Mostly you need to score 75/75 raw marks to get 100UMS.(Original post by dummie)
if i need to get 100 ums for c3 and c4 does that mean i need to get full marks with no error?
Only VERY RARE times you can see the 100UMS grade boundary fall to 73 or 74.
Good luck -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?what if i got a E for mechanics and not a U?(Original post by raheem94)

and what if i want to get a C instead of a B overall? would i still need to get a A for both units?
thanks -
Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?Gonna be completely straight here, if you've retaken C2 3 times and only got a D, there's not a hope in hell you'll end up with a B and will struggle to get a C. C3 and C4 are much harder than C1/2 .(Original post by dummie)

Re: will i be able to get a B with these grades so far in edexcel maths?well i didnt revise for c2 other than the day before the c2 exam but since i have 16 days till my c3 exam then a week till my c4 exam after that i was thinking would it make a huge difference if i studied really hard?(Original post by Brit_Miller)
