Re: 63 stone teen
My thoughts are that it's a desperately sad situation and I sincerely hope she loses the weight.
She's - from the sounds of it - had a **** upbringing, some of the photos of her at an early age on the DM are nothing short of child abuse. She's had little support from the family r.e. losing weight, she's also (as far as I know) once been a young carer to her mum and I doubt she got support with that.
It's, in my opinion, the opposite of anorexia - an eating disorder and illness that like anorexia, seems incredibly hard to treat.Last edited by daisydaffodil; 25-05-2012 at 19:10. -
Re: 63 stone teen
She has been categorically failed by her parents. Although her mother is also obese I think. So that probably explains a lot.
It's disgusting that there is someone who is still feeding her enough to gain or at least maintain her weight when she became immobile and therefore housebound over six months ago. -
Re: 63 stone teenPlenty of people have a **** upbringing, have family problems and don't end up at 63 stone. She claims it's because her mum cooks unhealthy food, absolute rubbish.. Unless her mum is cooking her half a horse and a packet of chips a meal she isn't fat because of what her mum cooks her. Her mum is overweight but nothing compared to her daughter.(Original post by daisydaffodil)

She is 19, she is capable of cooking her own food.Last edited by Idle; 25-05-2012 at 19:17. -
Re: 63 stone teen
I think its really sad. Read another article about her a while ago. She'd been about 40 stone, and gone to a fat camp in america. She lost about half her body weight, but when she got home, her mum bought fish and chips as her first meal back because she apparently didn't have enough time to do a healthy meal for her.

Re: 63 stone teen
Apparently she is suffering from massive organ failure and that doesnt sound good
.I honestly feel sorry for her, this is more than just an inability to stop eating crap, she has a mental illness and disordered eating.I hope she pulls through and gets the help she desperately needs.

No, she isn't. She's housebound. -
Re: 63 stone teenHmm, true - but the effects of a bad upbringing manifest themselves in many different ways - so of course not everyone who has a bad childhood will become obese. Some will turn to drink/drugs/gambling etc and some may have a stronger emotional resilience and not do anything which is detrimental to their health/life - I really doubt it though, I think they would be a minority.(Original post by Idle)

Re: 63 stone teenIf it turns out she has an actual mental illness then fair enough, but her quotes just seemed to me to putting blame on the stress of her home life, my mum is also large (no where near that) and uses the same kind of excuses to not lose weight.(Original post by somethingbeautiful)

Re: 63 stone teen
As someone above said, she went to a fat camp in America when she was 33 stone, slimmed down to about 15 stone or something, and then on coming back to Britain gained weight again, until she's now here. The article I read said that she had been given a life expectancy of 21 (whether that actual figure is correct I don't know, but she isn't going to live much longer).
Also, I did wonder how she keeps gaining weight when people have to bring food to her because she can't shop herself. So something's up there. And while I do like to laugh at fat people every so often, this girl sounds like she has some kind of psychological addiction to food. If a person is overweight or obese, it's usually because they are just greedy and lazy. But to get to that size, I have to think that there is some kind of mental thing going on. -
