Just because a band is mainstream, it doesn't make them untouchable.
What are you even trying to argue here?

Alexisonfire - Post hardcore band that really blends screamed and clean vocals well.
The dillinger escape plan - Mathcore band, extremely heavy and very technical, easily the best live band i've seen.
Rolo tomassi - Very technical synthy female fronted hardcore band.
La dispute - Spoken wordy hardcore, inspiring lyrics and touching stories in their songs Eg: king park
Pulled apart by horses - The more indie side of hardcore but they have some ridiculously catchy songs.
Converge - Ridiculously heavy mathcore band vocals are especially so. Their album Jane doe has been voted one of the best of all time.
Glassjaw - One of the pioneers of post hardcore, can be very heavy and very melodic when they want to be.
Cancer bats - Hardcore band inspired by Southern metal riffs
Every time I die - similar style to cancer bats and just as good
Gallows - British hardcore influenced by sex pistols

    As for pop punk:
    New found glory
    Sum 41
    Early green day
    blink 182

You need to be really confident in the quality of your own music to play the elitist 'why does no-one listen to good music like me' card. It doesn't work if you then list a batallion of painfully mediocre pop-metal bands.

This thread is disappointing. So much generic popcore.

    My favourite hardcore/post-hardcore bands are:
    Rolo Tomassi
    Veils
    Pulled Apart By Horses
    Black Flag
    Kerouac
    Pariso
    Touché Amoré

I also need to check out more Fugazi and At The Drive-In.
You are the best person who has written in this thread so far, congratulations on having an excellent music taste

    Hard core all the way!
    Metallica
    Slipknot
    Lamb of God
    Misfits
    Black Sabbath
    System of the Down
    Judas Priest
    Slayer
I love a lot of others which are not as heavy as well

    Nirvana
    Sum 41
    Bloodhound gang
    AC/DC
    Muse
    Offspring
    Red Hot Chilly Peppers
You said "hardcore all the way" and then listed 8 metal bands.

Lol. Hipster kids are such trolls.

Exactly. I was calling OP a failed hipster for complaing about what is "mainstream" and then picking some of the worst groups to represent the genera.

Yes they do, many genres have evolved significantly. But what you would call "hardcore" is so far removed from what hardcore was/actually is around the world. There is nothing at all in the hardcore bands these days which has any element of hardcore punk.

    This to this

Thanks man! And i wouldn't say i dislike their new stuff, but i just don't think it's comaprable to Number[s] and Fame > Demise.

Aw man, sweet, which date did you go to? I had tickets for the Stoke date, but work wanted me to do a shift! : /

Are you going to see them with MMF and Secrets?
I was at the Stoke date. You should have skipped work, was too good not to miss. Only glitch was Crossfaith's equipment going into meltdown after they did their cover of Omen because the whole place had gone a little crazy, meaning they only played 3 songs.

Yeah, I'm coming back from uni to the Birmingham date. Haven't listened to Secrets yet, need to remember to do so, but I'm so excited for MMF.

once again. When i say mainstream, i'm talking about the likes of uk top 40.

I have no problem with mainstream bands in THIS GENRE.

7 of which are the most well known bands in the entirely of metal at that! Well, LoG was borderline but virtually everyone who knows metal has heard of them.

On topic, a friend of mine does metalcore vocals (among other things). I'm no fan of the music but it sounds difficult to perform well:

My experience as metal vocalists suggest that if it hurts you're doing it wrong.

Ah man, that makes it even worse haha! That sucks for Crossfaith though, they're pretty sick.

Same, i'll be at the Birmingham date too! Can't wait for it already!
