So i applied for business, and frimed an offer from Huddersfield
but since i have kind of wanted to do a law course, i do law at the moment and i really really enjoy it

Is it possible to change courses?
When is it best to change? Like should i wait till i start my course then enquire?
Could i possibly look through clearing on results day to see if they had any places available?
The thing is i really like Huddersfield uni, but the law course is 340 points, and im aiming for 300 points so i probably would'nt get in if i was to cancel and re-apply.

Anyone help? and can advise me and what's bets to do?

The best thing to do in all these situations is to ring or email the admissions department as early as possible. Only they can tell you if changing courses is feasible. You need to ask yourself whether you could hack Law if the access requirements are higher than you're likely to get.

I don't know much about the clearing option. To be honest I'd email the admissions department with these questions and also post in the UCAS forum here.

This is only really true at the top tier universities. In clearing 2011, there were plenty of places for law from the universities in the same bracket that the OP will be looking at.

I was just really stuck on where to go/what to do

Don't leave it up until clearing because theres a higher chance that you wont get the course you want. Call your university ASAP. I'm in a similar situation and the admissions department at Brighton have been very helpful.

My brother accepted history at Chester last year, with a view to doing GDL after, but saw the light in July and asked about changing to law. They told him to wait until after results to see how many students met their offers/took their places. After results he fell a bit short of what they'd usually offer for law but they took him onto the LL.B anyway. So go ahead and ask, the worst they can say is no :-)

Hi,

I just completed first year Law at QUB.

I had initially applied for BSc Int. Business and Spanish in QUB, but on the day of A-level results with the grades I needed (knowing UCAS and Uni phonelines would be jammed with callers) I visited the University in person and filled in a form to change courses at their Admissions Office. They told me I'd hear from them in 2 days at most.

I went out that night with friends to celebrate the results and by the next day with an awful hangover got a 9am phonecall confirming my place in Law.

So if you act quicly on results day and have the grades, you could change very easily. I'm happy with my choice
