    I miss having a girlfriend :(
Well it's been over a year since I've had a girlfriend (I'm 19).. she was very good looking and nice, and I am starting to think she was too good for me.. I think I am average looking at best, but most girls say that I'm really nice and funny.

I miss having someone close from the opposite sex to talk to each day
I miss having someone I can hug
I miss having someone I can just lie down on the sofa with and talk
    I miss feeling loved
I miss making someone feel happy and smile
I miss the intimate parts (sex e.t.c)
I miss taking a girl out for a coffee and sitting on a bench in the sun

I've had a few short 'flings' since then but it just has never felt right.. I feel like I am very picky because my last (and first) girlfriend was everything I could ask for.. very pretty, nice and funny. Of the 3 girls that I've had a short fling with since, they have all been reasonably good looking, but I just didn't like their personality and it didn't feel right.

I just want to have that feeling again of excitement and happiness again that you get when you are talking to a girl that you like and that you know likes you back..

There are many other fish in the sea, you just have to wait for the right girl.

    You sound great.
Majority of (attractive) girls out there are looking for a relationship. Just keep approaching and asking girls out. Don't think your last gf was too good for you - she chose to be with you after all. Beware of comparing current girls with her. Maybe try to go out with someone different, finding 'replacements' is not the way to go.
Also remember that we tend to recycle memories for more than they're worth and remember people better than they are when a relationship has ended.

Believe me when I say there are so many guys out there that are like that - I'd say I'm like that too - though I personally don't find myself good looking whatsoever (that's probably a confidence thing anyways).

Thing is, I've spent so long trying to find a girl that wants a guy like that. It seems like there's a load of guys who want a girl like that, whereas all the girls want a guy like that

I think we need some way of introducing all these people to each other

Ah I wish I could find one of them!
I'm sure you won't be as you make out you are. Everybody is beautiful .

She will come along when the time is right. No point trying to look, just let it be really.

    Haha yeahh defo :P.

Okay, maybe I'm not that bad. I'm distinctly average though, and I'm quite out of shape at the moment I do intend to fix that soon haha

Yeah, I know I'll find the right person eventually. I do reassure myself that she's out there somewhere, and I've just got to meet her. But I sometimes feel that I miss opportunities I could be taking while looking for the right person, since I'm worried I'll end up in a meaningless relationship and then miss out on the perfect girl. That wasn't very clear - I think I know what I meant by that

I'm outta shape, but working out is too much effort haha.

Haha I know what you meant too. I sometimes wonder if I did something different would I of found the guy or did the choices I make, make me miss out on the chance..

Even if you look "distinctly average"; looking distinctly average isn't the same as being distinctly average. I know I'm average too but I get by and hope that my personality will appeal to people above all. Most people find it hard not to over-analyse how they look.

You sound like a proper romantic at heart. I am too. On the one hand, it'd be a bad idea to go with just anyone. When you realise that, you know that the chances of finding someone really special are rare. So spending time with the wrong person could be better spent on the lookout for someone who ticks most of your boxes. It scares me, if I'm honest, and I know what you're getting at.

I don't think it should be about finding the "perfect girl". She doesn't exist. That doesn't mean you can't be happy. Get to know people because you think they are great people and then you might end up in a relationship. Don't go out with criteria in mind - it might put the blinders and make you miss out on someone who may not look as good on paper, but in whatever way is perfect for you.

I don't mind working out so much... I just like cake more than working out :')

At the end of the day though, you'll find somebody that you'll spend the rest of your life with. So the decisions you make now, things you wish you'd done differently - it doesn't really matter in the long run. Of course, that doesn't help for the time being

I know exactly how you feel OP, I feel the same way. It's been 14 months since the end of my last (and first) relationship and although it sounds like it wasn't as good as yours, I still miss all the positive feelings that came from it and I think any future relationships have the potential to be a whole lot better.

I've fancied the odd girl since but I just haven't properly 'clicked' with any of them, there's a girl I got quite fond of recently but I'm just not 'feeling' it, I like her and think that she's a nice girl, but we don't really connect so I can't see it going anywhere.

I can see it being very difficult to find someone I can spend the rest of my life with, I'm not the most confident or sociable person and for the most part I don't have the faintest clue how to 'court' a girl. I know a lot of people say 'just let it happen' or 'stop looking for a relationship and one will find you' but it's much, much easier said than done. I'm willing to wait for the right girl, I'm just worried that it will never happen.

Out of curiosity OP, why did you and your ex split up?

It's strange - it seems like a lot of the girls on TSR are people I would have a lot in common with and would enjoy the company of, yet I've never met a single girl in real life with the same, even similar, interests to me.

I really need to look in the right different places

Haha aww. I would get along in real life with a lot of the people I meet on here but I realised that a lot of the people on here live nowhere near me .

Ahh me too! If only I knew where..

It was my first girlfriend as well.. we went out for about 7 months, but she dumped me a few days after Valentines Day (that was nice ) She dumped me because she wanted change, and felt that there was no excitement in our relationship any more. I heard from a mutual friend that she wanted someone who was more of a 'bad boy' and that I was just too nice..she also had started talking to some guys recently before that, so that probably had something to do with it..

I agree with you though, I mean all of the girls who I've shortly been with since have been nice, but we just haven't clicked in the same way.

Well I'm sure you are better than average! I just feel that I am not good looking enough to have the confidence to walk up to girls..I think I have a good personality though, so maybe being at university next year will help.

I agree with what you say, I guess it's just about trying to get to know people and seeing if it clicks

Thanks! I guess that's true, I just can never seem to find the right ones It's infuriating because I always hear about girls saying how they would love to have a boyfriend who cared for them, was romantic etc, and then there's me sitting there thinking that I could do all of that! I don't even judge girls on looks, I just find a girl with a pretty smile and a nice personality the best, so I don't think I am 'aiming too high' or anything

Once again I'm in the same situation. First and Last relationship with this guy. Been almost a year and a half and I'm still wanting him back... and rather jealous of his current girlfriend which he swiftly moved on too (that hurt).

It might just be me but I keep having dreams of us and there's part of me that is thinking this is soo wrong! Do you ever have dreams of you and your ex together?

And what you mention about having flings and it not feeling right, I am exactly the same. It's because they aren't your ex .

One day we will find that perfect person Keep your head high x
