France. The US both west coast and south are probably some of the friendliest place I've been.

I know there are bad, unfriendly, reserved and rude people everywhere but it also seems that the extent of openness and friendliness varies between different nationalities and cultures.

That said, based on your experiences, which one is the most and least reserved and friendly nation ?
As someone who is half British, Half Quebcois-Canadian and whose second home is LA and has travelled and met a diverse range of people. These are my experiences....

British- Why are alot of us so reserved, moody and touchy? (well Im not) but when starbucks introduced that system here where they ask you your name whne you order your drink, why were people complaining? you dont have to give your real name....

Germans- I love Germans and have met lots of outgoing ones. But sadly, I have met some very moody ones. For example, these 2 German guys( I assumed they were here on buisness) were looking for which bus to catch to Birmingham city centre from Birmingham airport. When no one else wouldnt help them, I told them to follow me as im catching the same bus. they never said thank you.... so whilst I was at teh bus stop with them, I ask where are they from and they say Germany. So I start using my German skills and say: oh teuer! wo kommen sie aus deautschland? and they were just sooo moody and never replied.....

Dutch- Met alot of very outgoing ones, but I think its part of Dutch etiquette to be blunt and reserved. When they say NO! its a NO!

Russians: I guess there is no such thing as a smile in Russia....

I could go on and non but I have to go now

    Umm.... What about Iran?
Pick up any travel guide on Iran and I guarantee you the authors will have writen about how welcoming and hospitable Iranians are. It's just part of the culture.

The current regime may be very unpleasant, but they're not a reflection on the people or Iranian culture, especially since the people hate them.

At any rate, I find this question really dumb and I think a lot of people in this thread are (unfairly) judging entire nationalities by the brutal regimes which rule over them.

China, based on what I've heard. Also, there are many videos of people getting run over there that no one takes any notice of.

Having lived in France, I think it's just the Parisians that are reserved/unfriendly, since it's a big city, in the same way that Londoners are deemed to be reserved/unfriendly and the New Yorkers even more so.

Being reserved doesn't equal to being unfriendly.

In my own experience people from Finland can be one of the most reserved people in any single nation and they generally don't make friends (acquaintances) all that easily but if you have a Finnish friend that will be your real friend for life. Same goes to an extent with Switzerland and much of Scandinavia.

People from China, haha money talks in my experience.

Americans, they may appear to be friendly and open but as a whole they are rarely ever your real friend but more of being acquaintances only and they are also very good at compartmentalizing their friendships.

I voted for China, merely because they're so private and isolated, though I can see why people have voted France.
Did you mix China up with North Korea?

Not sure why the UK and France are so high up on the list. The UK is THE place for immigrants (is that good? I don't know) and I've met some really friendly French people, and still regularly talk to one or two.

This is pointless. Your question makes no sense and for someone to give a valid answer they would have had to meet the majority of people living within all of your poll options.

    This.

There is also substantial intranational variation of social attitudes in any country.

France! Haha it is a bit of a cliche; I'm sure there are plenty of lovely French people out there, but I haven't met them yet.
That's because you haven't met me

(Yes I'm french - technically - well dual nationality).

I just watched Panaroma, so I'm going to say Poland/eastern European countries. I'm also yet to meet a decent eastern European person in the UK.
