I disagree about London. I've been to London and I was welcomed really warmly. Yet maybe just tourists are welcomed that way there, idk.(Original post by Dutchman81)
I've heard the french are really rude. I was going to say the UK and realised it was just London that was unfriendly. -
Re: Which is the most reserved and unfriendly nation? Why is it nonsense? It seems quite odd that the OP would include India but not Pakistan. They are quite unfriendly by the way so its not wrong to ask for the option.(Original post by Dirac Delta Function)

Re: Which is the most reserved and unfriendly nation?
I find the Dutch, although not on the survey list, to be particularly rude. They are incredibly direct, in a way that us anglophones can not fathom. For example, if you are sweating during a hot day, they will not hesitate to inform you that you stink like ****. They seem to be very fond of using an imperative tone of voice when speaking to you (no pleases or thank-yous, they would rather command you tersely when making requests).
They, like many other continental Europeans, also have no concept of queueing and being polite to strangers. For the record, I have been to the Netherlands several times for various trips and have family there.
By far the friendliest people I have ever met have been Canadians. They make a genuine effort to make conversation with strangers, will gladly offer help to those who are lost and would much rather avoid confrontation if possible. -

From my experience, the Scandinavians might seem rude at first but they will open up to you when they get to know you better.
I think the most polite people out there might not necessarily be the most hospitable and warmest ones. -
Re: Which is the most reserved and unfriendly nation?France and England, for always friends and enemies lol(Original post by Ra Ra Ra)
FRANCE
Reserved and unfriendly? That's why I like the French so much. We're kindred spirits.

Re: Which is the most reserved and unfriendly nation? It's a shame that my experience in France hasn't given me good impressions ever. When I tried to speak French (and tried very hard, making a real effort) I was laughed at and they refused to serve me. I admit that my accent may have been funny, but I know that my French was right and understandable.(Original post by prettypickle)
Hi,
The French would probably come across as rude as the English come across as cold and reserved. France is NOT unfriendly. Speak french to the french and doors open. Which is more than I can say for lots of others less sincere.
That was my first experience anyway, and I was about 12 years old at the time; I've only ever had similar experiences since. -
Re: Which is the most reserved and unfriendly nation?I am very sorry to hear this. I don't know why people laughed at you or made fun of your french. The French I know aren't so. But it is true that adapting to them takes courage... Just give it back lol(Original post by Emaemmaemily)

Re: Which is the most reserved and unfriendly nation? What is the point of this thread and your poll? All you are doing is asking - or worse, even encouraging - people to make unfair generalisations about an entire nation based on their individual experiences with a few people from that nation. I don't think it'd be too big a leap of logic to say that that's the basis for prejudice (and often discrimination). Not only that, you are basically implying that if a person is reserved, they must also be unfriendly by default. As some people have mentioned, a person can be BOTH reserved and friendly; the two aren't mutually exclusive. Lastly, there's also a difference between enjoying your privacy and preferring to keep to yourself, and being unfriendly. Some people seem to think that the two go hand-in-hand - they don't.(Original post by fellowjoe)
I know there are bad, unfriendly, reserved and rude people everywhere but it also seems that the extent of openness and friendliness varies between different nationalities and cultures.
That said, based on your experiences, which one is the most and least reserved and friendly nation ? -
Re: Which is the most reserved and unfriendly nation?Ladies and gentlemen, this is for discussion sake, so obviously its subject to your own experiences and perceptions!(Original post by Introverted moron)

And ok my bad, i should have kept reservation and friendliness separate
