Edexcel C3 Mathematics (Jan 2013 help)
Ok so ive basically finished my AS maths exams and ill be starting C3 in September, i was just wondering from people who have taken the exam how hard it is. Would i need to be studying and working through the chapters since the summer holidays before i get to school? Also which are the harder topics and will take a longer time to actually grasp the concepts, i heard from some year 13 friends that Trigonometric identities will be the one that catches most people out in exams. I really want 90+ in this exam so how should i start my revision? Do i do ALL the questions in the book then start to work through papers and is it worth doing solomon papers as in do they contain and questions from the old spec?

My next question lol how HARD is M1?! is it doable and would i need to start early on it just like C3 and basically all the questions i ask at the top cos i cba to write it all again

It's been a while since you posted and nobody's replied yet...maybe you should check out MarkedbyTeachers.com, TSR's sister site. It has the largest library of essays in the UK.

They've got over 181,000+ coursework, essays, homeworks etc.. all written by GCSE, A Level, University and IB students across all topics. You get access either by publishing some of your own work, or paying £4.99 for a month's access. Both ways give you unlimited access to all of the essays.

All their documents are submitted to Turnitin anti-plagiarism software, so it can't be misused, and the site's used by hundreds of thousands of UK teachers and students.

What's more, you can take a look around the site and preview the work absolutely free. Click here to find out more...

C3 is harder than C2, but definitely not impossible. You can start in the summer if you want a headstart but C3 is doable definitely. Hardest topic is probably trigonometry but it clicks after you do loads of questions. I'd recommend lots of book questions + all papers available.

M1 - Difficult to understand at first but once you understand it the questions become repetitive and quite easy

I found C3 a lot harder, from straight As in C1,C2 and S1 I got a D in C4.... I'm retaking it in under a couple of weeks now....doing a lot better this time round as I have used a lot of the skills in C4.... my advice learn ALL of the trig identities...they will really help.

M1 isn't too hard mathamatically....BUT its easy to lose a lot of marks as the questions are often 8-10 + marks and there is no error carried forward marks unlike the rest of the exams.....so you have to practice to avoid silly errors because it cost you dearly in the exam.
    Hope that helps

    try www.examsolutions.co.uk

it has videos of all the topics (I think they're all made now) and worked exam solutions to the papers. Also the way he goes through them is very helpful and after watching a few, I managed to get them.

We are starting C3 after half term, and lots of schools started already, so I would suggest at least looking at it, as it's meant to be the hardest module, especially the trigonometry and the differentiation.

for past papers and solomon papers - sci2.co.uk if you're on edexcel.

Get the Edexcel C3 book and start going through it if your able to, the examples are useful but if you get stuck use the solution bank. In my opinion, the book is harder than the exam for the trigonometry stuff, cause there are so many examples in the book. But in the exam papers they help you throughout the question.
