    IGCSE physics cie 2012. WTF?
    WHAT was that about??
How did everyone else find it? i was so confident with physics, all the past papers i did were a walk in the park. BUT THIS. Was it just me or did everybody else find it difficult? I guessed like half the paper. and because i was freaking out i forgot some of my formulas and things that i did just a day earlier. :/
my entire class found it horrible, how are the grade boundaries?
why does the syllabus say that an A* is 90%, an A is 80%.. etc.? it says that also on the ict syllabus but i dont suppose its very accurate.

I don't know which variant I did, but it was the one with the flask placed in water, and why did the level of X drop and rise. The last page had a relay circuit or whatever.

    How'd the world find it?

Same here. I did all the past papers from 2002 to 2011 and even studied up well, but the paper was really messed up, it was nothing like the previous ones. You did a different variant from me cause I didn't have those questions that you referred to in your above post, I had one on how many of the 40 Lamps go out, then this one on a bird and pivot, and a bunch of wave theory questions. I did the IGCSE physics/32 on Wednesday the 23rd of May at GreenWood High, Bangalore, India. Its likely that you did variant physics/33. It wasn't just me, almost every one in my class found it tough. The 90% for A* and 80% for A that you referred to are percentile scores. Cambridge takes world averages for each and every paper and its variant, so you should look up the gt(grade threshold) papers from the past, so you can get an idea of how its done. You can find it at xtreampapers http://www.xtremepapers.com/papers/C...sics%20(0625)/ (eg: 0625_w10_gt.pdf or 0625_w11_gt.pdf), so forget about the paper for now and focus on the others that are left, and God I hope the world average will be low, then our grades wouldn't be as bad. I'm Pranav. So where did you take your exam? And good luck for the rest of your exams.

I did variant 1.. I find it very difficult focusing on all the other subject because i'm still really mad. And it makes it that much more difficult studying a subject I dread.
Btw, how to study for paper 6? I don't really know how to. besides doing as many past papers as i can, which topics usually pop up? what do i study?

I did the same variant! I found the paper so very hard, feels like all my revision went down the drain and was for nothing. I was so confused with why the water levels INITIALLY fell and then rose?! and also I couldn't figure out the circuits questions, the last 4 mark bit finding resistance. I didn't understand how the ammeter read 0.8 A, do you?

Well all in all, I think physics variant 1 was a terrible paper!

if this was hard, then the other variants are bound to be the same:/ wouldn't be fair to have a difficult paper just because of where you live:P
Everybody i talk to said it was horrible. so I'm guessing they're going to be generous markers this year.. hoping.

paper 6 is really really easy. I don't see why you would study it tbh

You guys are right. We had Variant 2 here and *hard* doesn't even begin to describe it...That bitchy moments question made no sense to start with and then there was that bit about the generator and turbine! I mean I've NEVER, in my 3 damn years of studying Physics, come across something like that. Apparently, studying your a** off, getting top marks all year and solving dozens of past papers is no help any more. I'm so angry at CIE right now - what are they playing at!?

Physics paper 3 variant 1 was.....I mean it was one of the few tests I walked in with so much confidence...the past papers were so freaking easy but what was that first question? I have NEVER seen anything like it, what did you guys answer? I wrote that you have to measure the frequency and then find the reciprocal if that made any sense lol

The worst questions were the one on hydraulics, and definately the one about the water level at x.

The hydraulics question, I forgot all the rules for that the minute I saw it. But I don't think it was that hard. The last question though I had seen basically a carbon copy of that circuit in my book except that it was kind of flipped, and I didn't understand it in the book...--_-- I can't believe it actually came because I asked a lot of people and they didn't know, plus my teacher was out of reach :'(

I'm so mad at CIE too, I tried so hard but I don't think it's gonna show after paper 3, not to mention having to know the mass of a metre rule in paper 6...what was that!?

The mass, i know. it could be virtually anything, right? i don't understand how we're expected to know. oh, and not to mention, it was the first question. nice shock. i put 50g . what did you put?
