    Sociology Unit 4 - Stratification - 19th June 2012 - Notes - Disscussion and more
    Hey guys,

Not many people who do SCLY4 tend to study the Stratification and Differentiation unit. Unfortunately, my sixth form does.

    Post any questions/predictions etc

It's not the best topic, very dull in comparison to crime and deviance.

It basically looks at how different groups in society (Class,Age,Gender,Ethnicity etc) are structured and different sociological perspectives for reasons so.

It also looks about how this affects their life chances, social mobility and brings in topics such as power, status, and authority.

Also looks at how social class is measured and how it changes and the implications it has on society.

In addition to this, we also have to do research methods + theory

Crime and Deviance is much more interesting, but apparently this unit is the easier of the two.

I was talking about this with my friends yesterday and we aren't really sure.

defining and measuring development hasnt come up for a while and environment was last mentioned in june 2010 so they could be a possibility but I'm terrible at guessing

Im doing this exam too! Feeling pretty confident on the stratification part, just a bit worried about the 33 marker on theory or method! Does anyone have any predictions/advice etc?

on the 33 marker i think social policy will come up. This key theme has not been questioned yet
i think ethnicity might be questioned in stratification, i.e. in the 21 markers.
I dont really like this unit, bit of a big blur.
