    Children's nursing - math worries
    Hey,

Well I am studying towards applying for children's nursing at uni as I hope to become a children's nurse once I qualify.

I am just very worried about the maths. How hard is the maths involved? I scraped a GCSE grade C at maths and I worry that the maths will really really jeopardize my ambition to become a paediatric nurse.

Does any child nursing student or child nurse have any views on this or any advice/experience to be able to say just how hard the maths is that is involved?
    Thank you

I would say not to worry about a thing. Whatever university you go to, would/should give you support if you think you need it. I'm in my first year on a child nursing course and I also just about made a C for GCSE. I think you should not stress too much over it right now. All you need to do to be accepted is pass the maths test at interview and then get your required A level grades. The interview maths tests are honestly not very difficult. I remember being overly stressed but they usually send practice questions before the interview and it was completely fine!

So try not to work yourself up over it and remember once you get on the course, support is always available when you ask for it. It is all worth it once you get to care for the amazing children that need it.

I've been on one children's ward so far, and every qualified nurse carried a calculator. Even the one maths test I've had while at uni allowed calculators.

Any other questions or if you want to find out about my experience so far just holler.
